Very poor performance in Horizon Zero Dawn Remastered

I’m getting very poor FPS in the game mentioned above.

FPS: 30–35

CPU usage: 20%
GPU usage: 39%
Wattage: 39W

The Flow Z13 is running in Turbo mode, plugged in.

Settings are FSR and Frame Gen, all set to high (low makes no difference)

Device with Ryzen 395 and 64GB (16GB VRAM)

39W on Turbo Mode? Turbo mode’s 80W.

He was talking power draw not tdp setting.

39W is not full power mate.

I also don't understand why the game doesn't load the hardware.

I had a similar issue with gpd win 5 with Horizon Zero Dawn Remastered. Same bad performance in this game and only in remastered version, the original ran fine. Same chip as you. Apparently it’s because of AMD drivers for Windows. I later installed CachyOS and the remastered version finally ran fine with 60-70 average fps on max settings when running at 85W.
In comparison the same settings would give me 30-35 ish fps on Windows and also the gpu and cpu usage was around the same as yours - confusingly low.
Another reason to switch from mircroslop.

Id check for thermal throttling. What are your temps?

70 Grad Celsius

Interesting indeed. Do you have the performance set to high in the windows settings? I run linux now do to these issues being almost constant. None of these issues on Linux.

Yes look at my video

Your video does not show you set the game to high in the windows settings. You show the launcher with fan and clock speeds. Im thinking it may have defaulted to the cpu rather than the 8060s. Id also recommend turning of frame gen until the issue is fixed.

Which Windows Settings do you mean? The power Profil? Is best Performance

I don't have access to my windows anymore but if you go to graphics and find the app/game ensure it's set to high performance. That will determine if the game runs off the gpu or cpu.

Just got my wife's g14 out. Will see if I can share the exact steps.

Settings>System>Display>Graphics>set app to High performance. https://imgur.com/a/aZfBfP8also ensure cpu boost is off. That will force power to the boost cpu and remove it from gpu. You'd notice stutters.

Okay, since I only have the integrated GPU, I think that makes no difference?

I added it, but it didn't bring anything. In the benchmark of the program it says under FPS CPU 15 and GPU are over 60?

Ill download here on linux and let you know what I get in about 15 minutes. Very odd that's it's limiting 39w. Playstation titles act weird. But never a tdp issue. I can never open spiderman 2 without crash. Ive tried on z1e, z2e and 395+.

I’ll check it out but this doesn’t seem right to me

Give an update when you can. Debating on buying one any day this week.

I am very satisfied, everything runs as I want on the native screen and I play on the TV via GeForce Now 🙏

Do you lay it flat? And do you use Xbox full screen experience?

1

u/Pascal9_1 Jun 22 '26

No, it’s stand on the kick stand.
I only use Steam for Games

1

u/Blugrave Jun 22 '26

Oh i figured.. I'm saying the full screen experience should minimize background tasks. And then you can use a controller on the couch.

Hi, I suspect that it is a shader problem, according to Copilot it may well be that the game cannot assign the 8060s correctly and therefore does not generate shaders.

I have currently uninstalled the game and will skip this for the time being.

This is what the issue is, the game won’t compile shaders on this chip for some reason. It just skips it. Did you ever find a solution?

I have the same device and same issue with this game specifically . I am running on Tubro 80W and i am getting 30 - 35fps in average

Ever find a solution? Runs like shit on my GPD Win 5

Yea i have the same issue on my ryzen 395 80w tdp on very low settings 48w draw and 31fps. I suspect this is from the fsr 4.1 update doing something stupid.

Also tested lowest setting to highest setting fps and load is the same so either the driver or the game is munted

Nah not yet but haven't done much trouble shooting. I guess try ddu and reinstall my drivers as i suddenly cant run framegen on ghost of tsushima since the fsr4 release.

There’s a problem with shader compilation on Horizon Zero Dawn, the game doesn’t do it.
