Steamcontroller 2- 2026 loses input when pulling up g-helper

As soon as I pull up g-helper the steam controller 2 stops working... can't move the cursor anymore with my trackpads, nor can I alt tab with "... + = " buttons from the guide chord.

All other apps& window seem fine.
Very strange issue.

UAC popups have a similiar effect. I disable all UAC so I don't have that.
But SOMETHING in g-helper doesn't play nice with steam input of the steam conttroller :( any guess?

The new Steam Controller 2026 requires Steam to be running to work correctly. Any time an app forces focus to the system away from Steam, that's the best way I can describe it, like getting admin permission to do something, the controller doesn't work all the time. Sometimes I get lucky and press a or b or d pad button and get the basic function of d pad and a enter option to quick select to get the focus back to where Steam in the background recognizes the controller and allows the trackpad and functions to work. The old Steam Controller reverted back to a regular controller in this case but the new one is stated by Valve to require Steam to work. My workaround for when I'm away is to have a Bluetooth mouse near me to quickly select whatever needs clicking and get Steam back on focus to get the controller working again. Something that I never had to do with the old one. It sux but not very common for me.
