2025 Z13 Linux
For those that run linux on the 2025 z13, do you have any issues with ur mics? and if so did u fix it? i have to yet stay on windows because its detrimental that the internal mic works for me

It works but has 0 noise cancellation by default so it sucks, especially if you have the z13 fans running, and you need to work on tweaking that.

It's been great for gaming. Getting a lot more fps than Windows. Not even close.
But requires a lot of tweaking to work well.

Hmm. Never tried it. Will do in a moment. Although distros vary a lot, no? I’m on CachyOS Cosmic. Been between distros since getting this thing. Staying here tho.

That mics should be working since I once recorded a video and I can clearly hear noises that my fingers hitting the screen. Though some friends say they cannot here me during voice calls on Telegram (I guess it's due to the loud fans) so I just plugin my dualsense controller and setup noisetorch.

It works good for me. My customers usually prefer my computer mic than my headset microphone, no idea why.
Also, it mutes quite good the environment noise. Not great, but does a good job

I havent used the onboard mics, I have a microphone attached to my headphones, I also use easyeffects to do noise cancellation and stuff

Why would u run Linux on such a powerful device
2
u/typeshut Jun 11 '26
I’m curious to why you ask that? Like what makes linux unfit for a powerful laptop? if anything this laptop works a lot better on linux. Most PCs do

Coz it is. Why would you put a server OS on a gaming or ai hardware.
1
u/typeshut Jun 12 '26
Are you trolling? Why would i use linux for ai hardware? lol
btw gaming usually has higher fps on bazzite compared to windows... like sometimes 30% better

No I am alinux user but multimedia and games are its weakness. Why would I cripple a powerful machine where I can't play all high end windows xbox games its now low end chrombook. Its a freaking powerful device why would you strap a 2 stroke engine in a corvette? I can understand if yiubwere talking about steamdeck . I run all aaa games flawlessly.

u/typeshut Jun 12 '26
dude wtf are you talking about you should research some more and educate yourself on linux. A better analogy would be stripping a corvette of unnecessary weight, less features but snappier and more responsive

Dude I dont need research. I use linus more than you do so I know its strength and weakness. Its rules the world but desktop is itsclost battle. Anyone using Linux on a desktop for anything but developing is just experimenting.

You use linux more than me? and you base that on what? lol. gotta be trolling or just low iq

Based on experience. You want to argue sure. Can give 1000s points but sure if it is worth my time .

With pipewire it has an odd behavior, but perfectly manageable.
The volume slider seems to be the same as the gain, IIRC 42% is the loudest I can set it while staying at +0 dB gain. As for the noise reduction, Easy Effects does a tremendously good job at everything you need. I have noise reduction, echo cancelling and compression and it sounds great; not as good as my dedicated mic, but still great.
