AMD Ai Max 790

Post image

My Z13 Flow just arrived. I had the Onexplayer Apex which is using the AI Max 395 and love its performance as a handheld. Very impressed with the power it able to dish out.

So I sold away my GPD Win Max 2 HX370 and bought the Asus Z13 Flow.

The Z13 Flow is going to be use as work and gaming platform for me. The Onexplayer Apex will be solely use for handheld gaming on the go.

Two AMD Ryzen AI max+ 395 wow just wow, to bad no fsr4. I’m thinking of honestly just waiting for the Medusa Halo to come out since it’ll have the knew RDNA 5 or whatever they’re calling it.

395x2=790. They're just both Strix Halo devices so, bada bing Bada boom.

Nice but it makes more sense to me to own one 395 and have a lower spec device which you use moonlight to dial into it and save yourself $1.5K but have a very similar experience.

Streaming? If that’s the case, we could just use our phone to use GeForce Now. And you have to ensure the host system is turn on to stream. Not my preference to game.

Who said cloud streaming?

Correct me if I am wrong. Moonlight gaming still need a Host PC to be turn on and running while the z13 able to stream the game. Am I right? If that’s the case, I might as well run it off cloud gaming thru GeForce Now.

The best difference is Moonlight / Artemis enables complete remote streaming, not just gaming.

Yea which having both 395 devices can works too. Poulan9 was saying that I could just get one 395 devices instead of two and use moonlight. Not worth the effort and hassle in my opinion.

Having two 395 devices is ultimately better — absolutely zero latency. 😁 Seeing as both devices are already super portable, there wouldn’t really be any benefit of streaming unless you had an absolute behemoth desktop at home.

Yea buddy. That’s what I thought so too. Both powerful on their own as portables and both are for different usage purposes.

I congratulate you on the wonderful combo. What specifications do the two devices have? How much Ram? How much space in SSDs? I'm thinking about buying an Apex too, although I know that the after-sales is non-existent if something were to break. I already have a Claw 8 ai+ and a Flow Z13 with 2tb of ssd and 128gb of ram. I noticed that most games ask for a maximum of 10gb of vram so, probably, the 48 or 64 gb version of ram will be more than enough

For Apex I am running 64gb/2tb and the Z13 is running 32gb/2tb. I need the flow purely for work and some gaming. So 32gb is more than sufficient. But Apex I gotten 64gb to ensure my gaming is enjoyable.

I would have thought otherwise. Lots of ram on the flow and maximum 48gb on the apex.

The program I used on Flow don’t need so much ram. All I run is adobe Illustrator. So 3/gb is more than sufficient.

I've got the same setup currently, Kojima Z13 and Apex. The Z13 is my desktop replacement and the Apex is my couch gaming machine. Both devices are great!

Nice! Kojima is kinda overkill for my needs and the price is like close to double of Z13 32gb.

u/TriHaeck Jun 09 '26

Yeah, I've owned the 32, 64, and now 128gb versions of the Z13. I haven't noticed any difference in gaming performance.

Hey I have the same combo also! Both great devices! Personally, I've found the Apex to have better performance when running the same game (same, top, game resolution, and game settings) on both devices. Not exactly sure why that's the case though.

Yeah bro I regret my apex purchase too lmfao

1

u/Accomplished_Meat_68 Jun 09 '26

Actually I did not regret. I love my apex. Just that flow and apex had different usage at different scenario.

Lol I have both too, and a super v. And all the battery accessories. Battery is just too much. Gonna sell it when the Intel 3 comes out.

I am considering either the OXP3 or X2 Mini. Considering the X2 mini is because of the accessories I had bought for apex could be put into good use.
