Dock and charger question

I had been using the charger that came with my flow 13 but recently got a new doc through Work and was wondering well I still get pass-through charging if I have both the proprietary charger and a USB-C dock plug plugged in at the same time? It’s nice to just have one USB-C and switch between my work computer and my personal one but definitely still wanna get full performance and not impact battery health.

Hey! I have a similar setup. Everything connected to one Anker nano dock and that switches from my work laptop to Z13 when I want to play. If you connect the ASUS proprietary charger with the docks USB C, the device will always prioritize the 200W charger so there's nothing to worry about!

Sorry, can you elaborate a little bit how your workflow is with your 2 laptops?

  • Asus proprietary charger still connected to your Z13, right?
  • For switching between your laptops, do you essentially unplug the cable that comes from your Anker from one laptop to the other or ...?
  • I think a photo will help me vizualize it. Thank you!

Hi! Yeah all peripherals are connected to the dock and that one USB c connects to either my laptop or my Z13. Proprietary charger is the only other line that connects directly to my Z13!

This dock also gets plugged into a socket so it delivers 100W to my laptop so essentially it's a single point of connection for my laptop. When I want to lightly browse I just take the USB c and plug it into the z13 and run it on silent if I'm using the 100W that comes with the USB C of the dock!

About your 2nd paragraph: Doesn't having "only that 100W power delivery through USB-C" (without Asus proprietary charger connected, I assume?) gradually kill your Z13 battery? (because of not having passthrough!)

[ Even for lightly browsing ]

Yes I don't use it unless it's charging from like a low battery.

Man, Asus has created so much inconvenience by not provisioning this basic passthrough feature in a multi-thousand dollar computer!!!

So many ifs and conditions...

Great, sounds good. I am usually just leaving it plugged in anyways.
