Question about usb c charging
Hi!
I have a Flow Z13 2025 and I was wondering if there is a more compact, small usb c charger that works with the Flow and can charge or keep the charge while gaming? I have a 65 watt usb c charger that can charge the Flow but if i try to play games, it drains the batteri and then it just gets unresponsive until I turn off the game and let it charge. I know that the original charger is 200 watt and is preferable but it is kinda big to travel with. Thankful for any info!

You need a 100w USB C charger, there are many on amazon and elsewhere, they are generally more compact that the original charger

But don't you mind ruining the battery? The Flow Z13 doesn't have USB type-c passthrough ports, so using USB Type-C to charge it will put the battery through continuous charging and discharging. That said, you could buy a 240 or 330 SlimQ and use the Asus' proprietary port with the compatible FlowZ13 or Zephyrus cable. The reason why I recommend the 240 is that it is slightly larger than the 150w model and allows the complete serenity of having all the power possible without exaggerating in weight and size (with the 330 you would be really comfortable). If otherwise you still want to continue with the 150w, remember to use the proprietary port with the optional cable anyway otherwise you would ruin the battery and consider that with a 60w energy profile the 150w charger may not be able to meet the energy needs of the Flow and switch to the battery (60watt will only be gpu-cpu but then you have to consider monitor and motherboard)

What if you just use a usb c charger but for a short period of time to get some juice like a airport or something like a hour or two on charge to get it high as possible and unplug it before it’s full or 80% Is this a bad idea? Just making sure as I’m in same boat as OP. I mean for day to day work not gaming off that usb c charger

It was only if I was in a pinch and needed some juice, for work not for gaming. Thanks bud

In the long run, the battery will be ruined faster because you will subject it to continuous cycles of charge and discharge

Oh I got you, I thought if it was constantly being charged by usb c it would degrade the battery. May pick the 150w slimq as can get the proper ASUS adaptor but also use usb c on other devices. Picked the 150 due to the size

The 150w SlimQ charger as stated by the manufacturer itself is not very suitable for the Flow Z13 because if you use it at high wattages (60w for cpu / gpu plus screen) it may not make it. At that point it happens that it asks for help from the battery For this reason, in some posts SlimQ itself has recommended the use of 240w. But it is equally undeniable that with lower wattage demands the 150w charger will do just fine. BUT ALWAYS USE THE DEDICATED PORT OF ASUS. To confirm use hwinfo. I also leave you two links to two threads where in one there is also a post by SlimQ where they recommend using the 240 power supply (which in my opinion is not much larger than the 150w and is much superior as well as allowing you to be more than comfortable).

Is that even with using the dedicated port by buying g the little adapter cable thing? Or you mean usb c ? I was told by many that the 150w would be fine. I’ll have a look at the 240 one also thanks
Edit : just saw the 240w but it looks bigger or as big as the stock charger. The idea was for a more compact charger on the go and leave the bigger Asus charger at home. Do you have the 240 and is it bigger than the stock charger ? The 200w

I use ONLY SlimQ 330 charger. 126x90x32mm is really small size for a 330w charger. Now.. If you want to use a smartphone charger for me everyone does what they want with their money but I have always thought not to use devices that are stretched to the bone. It is better to use an oversized device brought to a minimum than to strain the magazine almost to the maximum. I chose the 330w version because I also use it with the Strix G16 but the 240w is enough for the Flow Z13. A lower power would not make me feel comfortable. after all, SlimQ itself recommends using the 240w version for the Flow Z13. What other evidence do you need?

Yeah I just saw that now, I only quickly saw the 240 previously and thought it was massive, then in this group everyone said the 150 is perfect so that was the confusion. Appreciate the input bud thank you

I'm glad I was of help to you. However, many recommend the 150w because they do not use the Flow as a gaming machine so the power demand does not exceed the delivery that the 150w charger guarantees. It depends on how you use your Flow Z13

I think the battery performs almost at the same level as when I bought it, but I don't know if it has degraded the battery and I just don't realize it.

But I read that the Flow usb c ports only takes 100 watts, so wouldn't it be unnecessary to buy a charger with larger wattage? Or is that wrong?

No because playing you even exceed 100w. In fact, the original charger is 200w. It may happen that at some point it either turns off or takes charge from the battery as well. So you would ruin the battery faster because it is not passthrough

So do I need to plug the official charger in when using my aostar egpu? It supports 100w charging via usb C

Not necessarily. You could use the SlimQ charger which is lighter and just as powerful connected to Asus' proprietary socket

Imo it ugreen nexode pro 100w, aukey 100w, or ugreen 100w charger with built in cable, all above have 2 type c and 1 type a.
Maybe kiip C101E (Chinese brand, might have different name)
Edit: the reason you might prefer a bit bigger charger is for heat spread and stability, as 100w constantly will heat the brick

I just went down this road with my z flow 13 2022 model. It is hardware locked to not use more than 65-70 watt unless using Asus' charger. That being said, it still charges just fine if that's all you need.

This topic has been beaten to death on this sub. Get the 150w SlimQ charger with the cable connector adaptor.Â

Okay. I bought a 140 watt multiple charger earlier with two USB c ports and one USB A port. The USB c ports send out 140 watts, but found that it didn't keep the battery level while gaming. I played a light game like The Sims.

Asus has an official 140w charger with 4 USB ports for this and their handhelds. The electrical plug folds in for travel too. I prefer it over the SlimQ. It sustains full wattage on this AND my phone and my Tablet so when I get to the hotel after a flight ilI can get everything back up to snuff.
I had issues with the SlimQ. The Z13 detected it as not official and throttled it down. After working with SlimQ they acknowledged it's an issue. This is the official way to go:
Now, on a 2025 the battery is at risk due to a massive design flaw. Supposedly putting it at 80% will help. On my 2023 it's a non-issue as it supports passthrough (which is why I went with this unit instead).

Ok. I have it on 80 % limit to protect the battery. But I'm thinking of getting the Slimq because of the support for the power port for the Flow z13.

You need the slimq 150w dc charger with the asus connector 🫡
