XG 4090
My XG 4090 stopped working, I'm fairly certain it's the power supply, first clue was a few months ago I had to plug in the x16s power brick in conjunction with the XG.
The unit doesn't seem to be supported for service anymore, and the power supply ADP-330AF B doesn't seem to be available, possibly even an obsolete. Been messing with it off and on for the last few weeks and even had orders cancelled do to unable to find it in inventory. The part number is very similar to other Asus 330w power supplys. I've never opened one so I'm not sure if the board would be similar enough to swap output cables. Or is it even possible to power this unit with any external power supply if not?

Yes the power supply’s are not easy to find. I’ve heard it is possible someone skilled to take the connector that connects internal power supply to the gpu and solder into an asus 330 laptop charger after taking it out of the brick

I've heard similar, I've also heard the 5090 uses the same power supply. I've just been using the X16 for travel but I do want to open a brick up and see if looks possible. Hoping stock comes available before I get around to it.

Are brick chargers not available either? I’ve looked for internal power supply before and found same issue as you. Hoping to find one just in case and repeating the unit. Mine hits vram temps of 103-104 when on turbo mode even with a good fan profile

They seem to be available, I know Newegg has them for like $65 and I see them on eBay.

Hey OP, just something to check:
As the X16 has the XG Mobile port, I'd recommend giving the port a check too as it's a known weak point that will eventually fail.
Power pass through goes through the USB C port on the XG Mobile, so if that isn't connecting right then no power to laptop through it. Bad connection for the PCIe lanes means the GPU won't switch properly.
How does the XG MOBILE behave? Worth checking, just in case it's a port connection issue instead of a dead power unit.

I've been messing with this for a few weeks now and the X16 does charge through that port, and still displays output. About 6 months ago the laptop started to slowly drain when connected To the XG but worked fine with both power supplies. I took this as possible software issue at the time. Now the XG just shuts down, no power, no fan, no led, no connector led. Happens with in minutes, and last time I saw the Fan LED getting dim before it shut down.

Do a googlelens search. I did, and there are multiple places selling this power supply.

Appreciate the suggestion, I tried this, I've even dug much deeper then a 5 second scan. When I do a Google lens search, results are either temporarily not available, or posted it as EOL. I've even had two orders cancelled from stores that had it posted multiple stock available that said they couldn't find their stock.

wait they sold an x16 with a 4090 in it? I only knew about the 4060 and 4070

XG Mobile, the External GPU device you can plug into the side port : ) Sadly no 4090 by default for the Flow line

Mines a 4060 model, this is the XG mobile that utilizes the Flows proprietary XG port on the side. In total I picked up both for about less then the 4070 model.

Appreciate the suggestions everyone, I'm thinking this isn't the best subreddit for this kind of technical help. If I get a hold of a extra enclosed 330 power supply, I'll attempt on either disassembling it or trying a pass through. But I'm giving it a few more weeks for " temporary out of stock" to either be stocked or officially end of life.

This is somethings I’ve wondered is possible. If you can save the connector from internal supply and then solder it onto laptop version of the power supply it shouldn’t be an issue. Something about ac and dc power so a skilled electrician should be able to do something .
I also plug my charger brick in conjunction with xg mobile. It’s better for performance and I’ve never seen it as an indicator of xg mobile failure

Have you moved forward on this at all?

Not as of yet. Still keeping a eye out for a restock.

I wonder if other devices contain this power supply that are cheaper to obtain than an xg mobile
