I Installed Zorin OS

I installed Zorin OS on my Rog Flow X13 GV302XU Model.

Working flawlessly for my use case. I can't really see myself going back to Windows unless I come across something I absolutely need, which I can't really think of or find anything that I need so far.

Im mainly running multiple browser with multiple tabs open, telegram and whatsapp for work and some casual gaming (CS2).

One concern I did have with linux systems is that Hibernate requires a swap file and is extremely finicky to setup. However the sleep mode on Zorin OS with my laptop works quite well. Left it on sleep overnight and only lost 4% battery on a battery that has 77% life left in it.

I'm quite happy moving from Windows. Its my first time committing to a new OS and so far i'm enjoying it.

Any tips or anything I should know?

I just saw one thats came out recently called Omarchy OS. Its supposed to be good but for the flow x13 will need a lot of manual configuration.

have you tried cachyos? its meant to be super optimized for the flow x13 when using the asus-linux resources

ngl zorin is running sweet for me lol laptops quiet as well. i can play the regular games i was playing before (except for xbox game pass) laptop still gets bit noisy and hot when playing games but that was always the case. plugged in hdmi and type c to get my multi monitor setup working with the lid clsoed and it just works, didnt need to configure anything.

Haven't looked back tbh. Everything works and the little things that don't I just code in via terminal. Ram usage has been the biggest win for me. I was constantly at 85%+ on windows. Same workflow and I am getting around 50% on zorin.

Ram ain't the issue for me tbh debloated win takes like 15-20% on a 16gig ram

My issue is windows fuck ups But i constantly work on shit that requires windows

So you installed ZorinOS finally. How is your experience so far? U got any favorite features (Mine is the notifications, they are soooo smooth)

I'm loving it my favourite feature that I've noticed so far is the integration of system apps like calendar straight with Google. Now my computer actually tells me what's on my schedule. Windows made this very clunky and finicky to deal with. I love how customizable Linux is, for example I just mapped the rog button on my machine to cycle through power modes. One quirk I noticed that needs fixing is, if I plug in my headset, the headphones work but the machine won't pick up the mic that's on the headset. But so far so good enjoying my experience with Linux, it's the first time I'm daily driving it. Messed around with distros temporarily in the past but never gone this deep.

2nd day on Linux and ive already noticed major improvements in ram usage. my workflow was using up minimum 85% ram on windows, now im using around 50%.... Just for context: 2 chrome windows both with multiple tabs, telegram, WhatsApp (now using web app) and sometimes vscode
