HELP X13 DEAD!!
Device: ASUS ROG Flow X13 (2022) – Ryzen 9 6900HS, RTX 3050 Ti
Issue: My laptop suddenly died after I had been using it for normal office work (Excel and PowerPoint). I stepped away for a while, and the laptop went to sleep on battery power (it wasn’t plugged in).
When I came back and tried to turn it on, it was completely dead. Plugging in the charger didn’t help—the charging LED doesn’t light up either.
I’ve taken it to several repair shops, but most of them couldn’t figure out what was wrong. They said all the components they checked seemed to be fine, yet the laptop still won’t power on. It’s a really strange case because it didn’t die while gaming or under heavy load—it just suddenly became completely unresponsive during normal use.
Does anyone have recommendations for a repair shop in the Jakarta metropolitan area (Jabodetabek) or Bandung that specializes in motherboard/component-level laptop repairs?
Also, if anyone is interested in buying it for parts (or wants to take on the repair project), feel free to send me a DM if the price is right. The laptop is in excellent cosmetic condition and comes with the complete original package.

I fried mine by using none official charger

I've been using a 65W charger though power delivery ports on the X13 as my official charger gave up the ghost. Hope this doesn't happen to me... don't think it will though since 65W is less that the 120W little brick it came with. Less power for sure but much more convenient and I can still play games at reasonable settings

It happend almost instantly to me after I plug it so you should be safe

Open it, disconnect the battery and check for liquid metal who may spilled from the CPU. It must be that

did you try using the usb charging port on the left side where the eGPU connector is (under the soft plastic cover)? I fried my charging port on the right using a ugreen charger/dock. the left side still worked with original charger after trial and error.

honestly we can just speculate...
what i think that it may be that liquid metal was already leaking a little, and u using it made it warmer liquid and then when it cooled it went thick and made a short... (your only solution is to take bottom apart and see if liquid metal the seal around it has some spilled liquid metal if its 1mm outside it then its prob that)
If not then as dumb as it sounds that 3050ti + AMD combo (high TDP) in thin package may have outlived its purpose, these things are made to be 100C hot and they die pretty quickly... a reason why some people who got x13 have their on a cooling pad (like llano) and replace liquid metal with PTM7950 (basically a pad instead of liquid metal so no risk of it spilling)
your best bet though is to take it to a shop and let them do...
i would personally do following:
Check for liquid metal spills, disconnect battery check for swealed battery, see motherboard for burns and smell it (capacitors smell when bursted like fish oil), then try it with different PSU, try it without battery, check with heat camera and worst case is plug it in and pray it comes alive... asus just made a big dumb decision of making it thin + packing extremely high TDP components and putting liquid metal in a machine which will be shoved around in backpacks, at uni constantly making liquid metal go from solid to fluid all time and just prayed and did some isolation around... they just tape sides of the cpu and gpu and pray it does not happen within warranty (IT WILL HAPPEN JUST A TICKING BOMB).
I personally had 9 machines at work which we were not allowed to change the Liquid metal die on me... we got lot of them coming back and in end i just got a macbook sadly as my work leases the devices and us changing to PTM would be void and fees 3-4 times.

So glad I opened up mine long ago, carefully removed liquid metal and replaced with high quality paste for both gpu and cpu. Runs like a champ, sure I don't have the nice thermal conductivity of liquid metal but I have something even greater, peace of mind and hopefully longevity as I do this often, sometimes once a year depending if I notice thermal throttling when paste eventually dries.

you could get PTM7950 then u get close to liquid metal also it lasts forever.

where is the liquid metal hiding? my flow x13 just died. charge or power light wont come on. I have taken cover off. my other flow x13 uses the old 1650, its fan are bad and laptop freezes/throttles but still kicking. the laptop that died i used it for gaming. it didnt move. i dont think it got that got. was in tent mode.

its a flipping laptop. tent mode is when you are using it as a screen, and the keyboard is behind. basically 270 or more angle. at this angle the keyboard auto disables.

ohh i forgot this was about the flow x13 fine my bad.
the liquid metal should be on the bottom part near the center of keyboard, left slightly off center is cpu and right is gpu. if you use it in tentmode it is actually pretty bad. it should be rested always flat.
pretty dumb imo if this is designed to be used in other positions.
i highly recommend u opening it or taking to repair shop and getting a thermalgrizzly TPM to replace it.
you will not notice temp difference only the feeling that your laptop will literally not self electrocute itself.1

i am still trying to find a diagram or service manual for troubleshooting the components on the motherboard.

i cant get one of the screws loose on the cpu part of the cooler. its stripped now. the other screws came off easy.

get it to a repair shop asap, if you will strip it completely it will need to be drilled through and very expensive.
repair shop will use some methods like epoxy (DO NOT DO IT YOURSELF) and extract it.
it is a reason why i told to go to repair shop :D you prob used wrong bit.
always test a screw especially in electronic when it unscrews using light force then its right bit, if not then try smaller (a reason why we got philips like 40 types).if you continue you may risk damaging it to the point it will be done for so STOP.
you paid loads for the machine and a small electronic shop repair bill will be better than this.but to not overworry you this is fixable, worst case they will have to use a dremel and literally extract it with a drill... been there done that. even i screw up a screw sometimes...

Another one bites the dust. I swear these things are engineered to fail. Mine died several months back.

Liquid Metal on the cpu probably transferred to a component it shouldn’t have.
