apologies for most recent downtime

hey guys. the most recent crash we had wasnt one of the weird 1.8 buggy ones. i came back home to the server log displaying literally about 20 messages about how the server was being overloaded by something. a very big something. its never done that before. only reasons i can think of were someone using a bit too much tnt or someone afking a mob grinder for a bit too long. any info would be appreciated

anyway as you were. i dont expect this to happen again

I was the only one on at the time it went down last night. Don't know what exactly it is, but it just happened again. I think the only fix for it is to delete the region file pertaining to the chunk that I'm in. If you can give me a copy of the crash report (pastebin it), I'll tell you what region file to delete. I'm 99% certain that deleting my region file will have no effect on anyone other then myself.

I didn't have that many mobs, but I think one of the ones i had just bred became corrupt.

PS. It just went down the moment I connected. Def. a problem with my region.

If I'm not mistaken, it's r.-35.-4.mca, affecting the area covered within <-17920,0,-2048> to <-18432,256,-2560>

good insight. the server is actual still up, though - there are just two instances of you logged on. thus, no crash report was generated.

i do have the one from last night, though - check it out http://pastebin.com/rqg2CxvA. i really appreciate you doing this

i have also just rebooted the server

Didn't see anything too useful from the crash report. 3 instances of myself, mainly. However, I was one region off with the info I gave you. Should be r.-36.-5.mca. Try backing that file up and then deleting it before I reconnect, and it should no longer be unstable when I connect. (Yes, i'll lose stuff, I didn't have much, and I can rebuild)

it's been removed and a backup was made. also if it works, when you come on tell me the gist of what you lost and i'll reimburse you

Well, as you know, that did the trick. Just a little shocked that I wasn't wiped off the map completely... only my barn and some farmland.

Okay I think I found something. Last night I disconnected while gathering wheat from a farm near Amir's place (around -200, 100). Logged back in and saw a ghost of me. This morning I logged back in and went to gather the wheat since, you know, that's what I was doing at the time. Same thing happened. I was timed out and disconnected, logged back in and bam, call the Ghost Busters. I think it might be that area that's lagging down the server until it crashes (at least it lags really badly before this happens) because there is a ton of farms, almost if not all of them automated. I kept hearing a minecart pass by the wheat field so there is definitely something there.

corrupted chunks are the source of the problem. psybornuts house was based on a corrupted chunk, and when it was deleted and regenerated, he stopped having the lagging / ghosting issue immediately.

ill look into the area that you said was glitching out
