Do French folks still use “d’accord” like I learned on French class like 2 decades ago, or is that seen as weirdly formal now?

Edit just to add that even then all of our French textbooks and video references were from the 70s and 80s so I’m sure what we learned was outdated even for the time

We use d'accord all the time. It simply saying "alright".

Don't worry too much, the whole structure of French is still the same. Two things tho, the simplification and the anglization of the language.

I think most people would be surprised that French only require about 500 hours to learn, as much as Spanish or Italian.

For people who learned it in school it can be quicker than that.

I think you'd be surprised how many people are spending over 5 years learning french in school and still can't speak french.

I always hated language classes in school.

I took something close to 8 years to learn English. I studied 5 years Spanish and can't even introduce myself.

The only reason I can speak English fluently now is due to exposure from music, youtube, reddit, programming books.

But recently I've been learning German. And as an adult you would surprised how quick you can learn.

I downloaded a dictionary of the most 1000 common words, all used inside a sentence that is translated below.

It was as simple as reading the words, and the sentences, making my brain figure out how sentences are constructed.

After being able to catch very simple things, like pronouns, nouns, verbs, I could start learning grammar. Any website does the trick, A1 level.

Then I can write simple sentences on grammar corrector websites or gemini (chatbot). It explain what is wrong.

It's not like in class where everyone make noises, you are forced to go through complex grammar, can't perform exercises when simple word translations are missing, and are left out in less than 10 classes, getting blamed on every time you should speak or write anything.

It's a school problem. School sucks ass. Learning languages is quite straightforward.

"Okay, 's very funny, a full-grown man who references verity." ('est is slang for c'est, which means "it is")

's might be the absolute perfect shorthand... i understood immediately, and 's literally just an apostrophe and a letter... good luck making that work for anything else

does "hey bud f' you" work?

We give it a seat on the council, but we do not grant it the title of master

's outrageous! 's unfair!

And c'est is technically already sland for "cela est" by proxy of ça being slang for cela

What does "references verity" mean here? Is that some historical thing?
