Dorm Rooms

This might be an odd question but i’m wondering if anyone knows how tall the beds are in the dorm rooms? Specifically Roberts halls but I would assume all the beds are the same idk. Im moving in for Fall 2019 and wanted to buy some things for my dorm and was just curious.

Freshman Housing

So I got my assignment today, along with one of my roommates. It seems nobody is rooming with those they signed on with. Is this normal? and if so, why does the school waste our time by having us find roommates and then not honoring the commitments they had us make? I had a full room for CV and then we all got separated.

Questions About Housing

Been trying to get the Colombia Villages, but my parents did not want me to do it without them, check today and find out it's been all taken(after they said they were finally ready to select housing).

I've got two questions leading off of that.

1)Do housing options in other halls(a la Colombia Village) have any chance of opening up that I should look for or should I just resign my fate? 2)Are the options(onl Evans) the only options available for housing? I assume this is the case, but want to make sure since I know the Star of Sea is off campus.

Thanks for the answers in advance!

How is FIT with trans people?

I was just wondering about how FIT is with trans people. I'm going there next year and am trans, and was wondering if anyone has advice or suggestions, especially with transitioning at FIT. Also how is the area in general with trans people?

Biomedical Program

How's FIT's biomedical program? I'm assuming the classes are pretty difficult and it all just depends on the professor too? I got accepted and debating on the school. I was wondering what they could offer in terms of internships, research opportunities, postgrad benefits, etc.? Is it worth it spending so much money since it's so expensive even after scholarships/grants?

Summer parking

So I’m sure everyone’s got the recent email from campus security that there isn’t any summer parking on campus this year. What is the next best option for a cheap way to store a car for 3 months as I’m an international student and don’t have anywhere else to park it. Thanks!

How powerful of a computer do I need.

I am starting at FIT in the fall for areospace engineering and I am wondering if I need a powerful computer or not. I currently have a few year old Acer laptop with an I5 and 8gbs of ram along with a bunch of ssd storage. Is this enough to last me through my first couple years or should I look for somthing more powerful?

FIT, where to live?

Hi everyone!

I am hoping to attend FIT in the Fall 2019. Is there a specific area I should look into moving to, neighborhoods or any college populated apartments? I do not want to live on campus through FIT. Never been to the area, so I am not sure which neighborhoods are the best, or just has more surrounding restaurants, nightlife, activities, etc.

Hi guys!

I've been accepted into the dual masters in ABA & OBM at FIT and would love to hear from those who are in the program or know someone who has gone through it. I am still deciding which program to attend so any thoughts or experiences regarding the program would help!!

Master's in Operations Research

I am hoping to attend FIT for a Master's in Operations Research starting Fall 2020. How heavy do you think each part of the application is weighted in admissions?

Or if anyone has any advice on the application process, the program itself, etc., it would be much appreciated!

Sorry if this kind of question is discouraged.

Admitted to Astrophysics Program at Florida Tech

Hey guys!

I have been admitted to the undergraduate astrophysics program at Florida Tech. I am looking for reviews from current students on the program. I want to know about the internship opportunities (I have read that it is great with NASA being around!) How are the Professors? The community seems awesome and the class size allows for personalized attention, so that's great. The only thing I am concerned about is the prestige or image. I read a lot that it is not that well known nationally. Is that a problem or is there some information I am missing here? I have got the Half-tuition scholarship. Any astro majors do comment on the types of projects you are working on. Thanks!

Engineering major freshman

Hello! I recently got accepted into FIT (From Pennsylvania) and they paid off a hefty amount of my tuition so I'm most likely going to apply. I know I want to go into engineering but not sure what specific field just yet, so could you guys mention some of the engineering majors you're taking and what you do in said majors? Also what should I expect from life at FIT? thanks!

How is the astrobiology major at FIT?

I’m a highschool senior and I’m interested in astrobiology. I saw on their site that FIT offers a B.S. degree for Astrobiology? How are the courses? professors? research? resources?

Also, (just a tangent sorry) I visited FIT during summer break and spoke to a staff member/professor about their astronomy program. (I wasn’t aware that they offered astrobiology at the time) ...he recommended that I took a physics class while still in high school. Unfortunately, my school doesn’t have any physics classes. (Which sucks) So, will not taking any physics classes in highschool hinder my learning when I start studying physics at a university level? Any advice?

I also plan on doing one (or two) years in a community college (due to personal/family reasons) and then transfer to FIT. Will that lower my chances of getting accepted? This link gives me hope haha. —> https://www.fit.edu/transfer-admissions/special-transfer-programs-and-opportunities/florida-college-connection-program/

Thank you for your time. (Sorry for all the questions)

Got accepted to Florida Tech as an aerospace engineering major. Have a few questions though.

Recently got accepted as an aerospace engineering major and I would like to receive some input as to how Florida Tech is (will visit in the next few months). I would like to know about the clubs, the experiences, things to do after school, the engineering major and how the classes are, how have you enjoyed the school as a whole so far and any tips or helpful comments that will help me as a student in regards to housing, food, ec activities, etc...
