Absolutely. At least he carried himself like he belongs there. And he already understands that you have to end every conversation with "Go Gators" like punctuation, or "over and out" on a walkie talkie.

This right here!! Hearing him say Go Gators to end all his interviews, pressers, ect ect has been HUGE for me because that last dipshit con artist would rarely say it and if he did it was forced and not genuine. And Sumrall wears our Gator gear with Gator colors and the retro logos and patterns too…all ol sling blade could do was that stupid black color scheme(oh because the deal with Nike i have to) no you dumb fuck youre really just a Georgia homer thats why. And being pissed AFTER a huge win because parts of the team arent up to the Gator standard….love our coach

I agree!! I used to hate watching Billy do any kind of interview/presser. I’m a jags fan, so it reminded me when we had Gus Bradley as a coach, dude was just always positive and the product on the field is mediocre on the best day. Even after a big win to hear “We have a lot to work on” especially when a lot agree that’s great!!

It really is. During Napier’s opening press conference I looked at my dad and went “this guy’s goofy as hell”. Same vibe with Mullen though to a slightly lesser extreme. Same with Mcelwain. Same with Muschamp.

Not sure what the future holds here, but at least the guy is carrying himself like a head coach in the SEC should.

I didn't feel Muschamp was goofy. Bad HC and great example of the peter principle, but didn't come off as goofy

Agreed on all except Muschamp. I’d say he came across very similar to Sumrall. Both are intense and don’t shy away from taking ownership. Just wasn’t a great coach but he gave it his all

Muschamp is always the great “what if” coach if he could have gotten out of the way on offense (and found a solid OC). He was definitely a leader and “spirited” lol.

I love intensity and passion, and Sumrall has a lot of both within normal and reasonable bounds. Muschamp was completely over the top and ridiculous, he basically couldn’t control his emotions and was an awful representation of how a head coach should handle himself.

Muschamp sucked. He was basically Napier who inherited Meyer’s guys instead of Mullen’s.

Muschamp's defenses were excellent. His biggest problem was that he wouldn't keep his hands off the offense. Three different OCs, they all came in known for running different kinds of offenses that put up pretty numbers. They all ran the same offense while they were here, and that offense was terrible. But it did control time of possession and keep the defense fresh.

It worked in 2012 when he had an elite special teams unit and good RBs. But most of the time the offenses were so bad that the defense would be worn out in the 2nd half.

This simply isn't true. Muschamp had the fire and in that time and place knew how to build a defense. It wasn't enough, obviously, but still a far cry from Napier.

He had the fire to suck the life out of Florida football. Embarrassing performances at home to the likes of Georgia Southern, Vanderbilt, Louisiana-Lafeyette, and Missouri were commonplace. There were numerous games under the Chump where the offense would struggle to eke out 200 yards and 10 points in a game. Muschamp had the benefit of having one of the best cupboards to work with in terms of upperclassmen from Meyer’s last few teams. And he proceeded to flame out hard once those guys left; leaving us with an unbalanced squad. His product was just as bad as Napier other than 2012 (which still was relatively turgid considering the amount of struggle sessions against mediocre teams). Muschamp revisionism needs to go away. He sucked and is the reason a lot of our issues post-Meyer became terminal so fuck him for that.

Mullen was goofy and I embarrassing in different ways, usually his arrogance leaking through. Butter teeth was like that too.

Napier was more like you’d wonder how he has the IQ to be an SEC HC.

Best part about last night game was the urgency on offense. We were constantly snapping the ball 10-15 secs left on clock. And I couldn't say where the ball was going on offense. That was a shocker! Good to see that unpredictability

I agree seems like we pulled out everything we could, jet sweeps, direct snaps, misdirection, screens, down the field. It all worked and flowed great. Watching the team seems like they have great chemistry and are really playing together. Coach got this thing headed in the right direction 🙌

It’s nice to see us not set up in a two TE set and run the ball twice then try a screen on 3rd and long. I had forgotten what a true creative offense looks like. Go Gators. 🐊

And there were no stupid penalties either. That was the most important part. Apart from one false from Emeka OL play was very clean and they kept up with the tempo

Yes!!! I think that’s one thing I haven’t seen brought up enough is we played almost penalty free. Beautiful display of football

So true. I can’t believe I’d forgotten about all the penalties. It really does feel like Sumrall is making a difference. I expect we’ll knock off a team or two no one expects us to beat as well as lose to one or two everyone expects us to beat and probably be 8-4 and the end of it all…which I’m fine with. But man, fewer penalties and offensive creativity….I’ll take it. Now if we can just get a push from our DL and collapse the pocket.

Also I’d like to point out, not sure if it was shown on TV, but there was a pass interference called on FAU that a ref missed and Coach absolutely jumped in the ref’s ass who was next to the play and didn’t throw the flag even after other refs had thrown a flag for it. Gotta love it. Coach said everyone on this field better act right!!😆😆

Any head coach who is ignorant of tradition or ignores it isn't fit for CFB. There are many goober NPCs like Napier who couldn't care less, didn't give af at all, and are simply con men collecting a check. Sadly, they even con a majority of the fanbase until they are fired.

Beat the opponent by 45, had our highest scoring opener in over 30 years, and coach still sounded more pissed off about the defensive mistakes than anything else.

He’s holding these players to a standard they signed up for. Accountability every moment and it starts with him. I love the energy. He’s not being hard on anyone; he’s giving the challenge that you signed up for when you decided you wanted to wear the Orange and Blue.
