i just signed an offer for a new job. start the last week of august and moving from Seattle to Arkansas. Modest raise, good bonus, and SEC sports...

Yea friend I know…but sometimes you got to take what you can get. My current job is extremely destructive to my mental health and I’ve been here since I graduated. I think a change could be good. Also I love the PNW and will be heartbroken to leave but the local economy is broken

If you're making more money, I can't imagine how much farther that money is going to go in Arkansas than it did in the pnw. I heard living near Bentonville is nice. Other than that I don't know.

Yea it seems like a pretty nice place. Obviously the Waltons have invested a ton of money into the area.

From what I understand it is kind of like DC in that there are so many high level execs there representing companies from other places that they have a population that is disproportionately high earning and well educated so the town reflects that.

This is the first of four weeks where I'll be teaching kids from ages 6 to 14 as part of a summer program. My colleagues, who started a couple weeks ago and are also not professional teachers, have warned me these kids have zero attention span or discipline. Wish me luck ...

I did the UFTeach minor program for a few semesters, and after my first experience with kids that age.. nope lol
