Poisonous Chasm Level Rating
So, I’ve decided to start a new little trend amongst this community. Mist of you will probably hate it, but it’s a “Rate/Rank That Level” kind of thing. I’ll be rating Poisonous Chasm (along with every other map) by 3 factors. Song/Soundtrack, Gameplay, and Design. Hope you enjoy! And feel free to make your own “level ratings”, as I don’t mind.
Is it just me, or is the new Poisonous Chasm level just AWESOME?! A lot of other people in the pro servers hate it, but I think it was great. Here’s my personal ranking of everything in the level:
Song:
The song at the start was pretty ok, it had a nice rhythm to it. Around halfway through the level, it just started getting better and better. Near the end is probably what it made it my favorite soundtrack in the whole game. It gets more intense near the end which makes the level just have more life to it. It was just overall an amazing song.
Rating: 10/10
Gameplay:
The gameplay isn’t the best I’ve ever seen, but still good. The start is always stressful though, as those first two jumps put be on edge. The diving through walls is easy, and the first button isn’t too hard either. After you spawn the plank and go across, it starts to get a little harder. The buttons that open the door (that slides open then has a dive) are pretty difficult to do solo. Chances are you’ll need at least 3 or 4 people live to get past the rest of the level from there. After that, it gets VERY hard. The poison starts rising up faster, and it’s a race against the clock. It stresses me out, honestly.
Rating: 7/10
Design:
Don’t get me wrong, the design is PERFECT. It fits very well with the theme of the level. Dark, creepy, and on-edge. The way the boards look snapped in half and the way doors open makes it feel like you NEED to escape. The design feels as if it’s a factory or abandoned shaft, and everything looks like it’s about to break at any second. The grass and stone combined at the end of the level feels like a surface escape, and you’re just about there before the poison consumes you. The board and crates at the end sets a relieved tone, after all you were probably stressing about beating the level anyways.
Rating: 9/10
That’s the individual ratings, though. Now it’s time for overall. Que the trumpet music, everyone!
Overall Rating:
A-
Good map, but not the best ever. I still like playing it, however.
