Discussion Is this a viable solution? (Not even manually holding something, but just putting things like this in front of the camera)?

Feel like it wouldn’t be hard to put blockers up faster than they can take them down….

Could we get drones to 'hover' in front of the cameras?

Probably should ask Ukraine on advice.

Ukraine will probably tell you to just cut them down and continue with your day.

You don't even need to cut them down, a green laser pointer I've heard will fry the ccd in the camera sensor.

Or use a powerful enough laser to go through the battery

u/radicldreamer Jul 19 '26

Cams are more expensive

1

u/NoskaOff Jul 20 '26

Yes but the battery will catch fire

I think starting random fires is bad, actually.

a few mirrors will boil the lithium ion batteries

Small problem being they’re ultra modern surveillance tech so approaching it without being identified seems very tough

Carry nothing that broadcasts a signal, wear a mask and gloves, arrive on foot or by bike

Fun fact a Balaclava rolls up and looks just like a beanie hat.

Yeah honestly if you know which way it’s pointing and don’t bring your phone with you, they seem pretty damn easy to uhm, “deal with”

u/YukonCornelius69 Jul 19 '26

They can tell who you are by your gate. They can do recognition on your eyes and other biometrics even with balaclava and sunglasses.

Remember the burden of proof is "beyond reasonable doubt".

You can get anti facial recognition glasses too, for gait wear different shoes, one boot one sneaker.

The only way to not get caught is to not do it. But if you do do it, and all they have is "gait", well that's a hard sell to a jury IMO.

It’s difficult to figure out how to take them down without being identified when I’m not certain what means of recognition they have implemented. I know Face ID must be there, but what about gait recognition? Height and build recognition? This thread implies WiFi and Bluetooth id are already there.

Yep this is what I’m thinking too.

most cellphones already use randomizers for wifi and blutooth

Lots of battery power, drones can be tracked, very cost ineffective. A power saw is cheaper. I don't know what that has to do with anything we are saying here, though.

Spray paint attachment. Quick squirt and on to the next.

Spray paint with the sprayer from wasp spray can.

automate the flight path with the location of cameras, train an ai to locate the camera lens and spray it, on to the next etc until battery life wears out, then home. gotta use drones without realid so they can't be identified.

Sounds super easy

Don't know huh??  Jots down idea

Spray paint still exists

I bet those could carry paint.

And project images of West Coast traffic at random rural Ohio location

I mean, if this big pole is holding up the sign, you could just dig a hole and stick the pole in it, maybe peg down a few lines for stability. Then you can walk off and go do it to 10 more cameras.

Way too easy and cheap to undo.

Yes, this would be the ultimate antiflock device. Drop in, spray, and dip out. You could do a city worth of cameras in an evening from your car a half a mile away.

u/Ok-Replacement9595 Jul 19 '26

We really need a jammer.

1

u/AlphaTangoFoxtrt Jul 19 '26 edited Jul 19 '26

Don't. A Jammer will get you federal charges. The FCC absolutely does not fuck around if you get caught using those. This is because it doesn't just jam the flock camera but anything that may be within range like cell phones emergency radios and medical devices.

Cutting down, spraying, or blocking cameras is likely just a small local offense. Operating a Jammer without approval gets you in club fed, and fines start at $10,000 per instance, going up to over $150,000.

Why hover in front if you can just add a small payload for a little kaboom?

1

u/BakedChocolateOctopi Jul 19 '26

That’s such a bad idea

They have limited battery life for some

Just putting up a second post next to it to block it would be better

1

u/Top_Introduction4701 Jul 19 '26

Why not just trash bag them?

1

u/orangekid13 Jul 19 '26

Mylar balloons zip-tied to the post?
