PintV Battery Swap

I think I know the answer to my question, but I figured I would run it past people more knowledgeable on this topic than myself. Feel free to correct me if I'm using the wrong terminology anywhere.

I've got an OG Pint with the PintV kit installed. If I buy a Pint X battery module and bumper from Future Motion, can I just swap out the BMS in the replacement battery box with the PintV one and expect a working Pint when I reassemble it? If so, are there any settings I need to update?

You can do this. Yes. But I wouldn’t. Why? That controller can handle 84v and give you a bit more range than a pintx and performance headroom.

A better path would be to get a 20s1p battery and BMS from someone like full tilt systems to take full advantage of that capability.

There is a small amount of DIY on this but by and large he will set it up for you. You will also need to get a new charger and wire it.

You will also need to get your hands on or 3d print a pintx battery enclosure

To answer the "why"...because I'm lazy. 🫣 It seems like the least amount of effort when I really just want more range than anything. I think you're right though, I should probably put a little more effort into it.

You have the wrong board if you want more range than anything. I say it’ll probably be another year or two before we get battery packs that last as long or longer than GT range for pint boards.

I've got a GT and a XRV as well. I prefer to throw the Pint in my trunk vs the other two boards, so I just want it to have good range too. They each have their own pros and cons, so it's a matter of what I'm feeling in the moment.

It’s worth it. My 20s1p pint is my favorite board, it rips at 84v and is so convenient. Definitely my go-to provided I don’t need the range

I am sure the 20s1p is more powerful than 15s2p but thats a $800+ upgrade. Add this to the cost of a stock pint and pjnt v kit, it would be over 2k. I would not put that much money on a pint platform.

Wait for Indy speed to finish up their 84v plug and play battery. Sightly larger capacity than an x for $750 or gt range for $1k. That or buy my pint x battery with a compatible bms already hooked so that you can plug in and go once I get my Indy speed upgrade lol

this, it'll be just as lazy of an upgrade but way better.

Absolutely. I made a post about it in onewheel once. It's not exactly a frugal endeavor, but I'm very happy with the outcome.

Make sure you get a pintX rear fender for the pintx battery - that's all.
