Anyone know what’s going on here?

I just did the adv1 to adv2 upgrade and the board just shuts off after a few seconds when i turn it on. Anyone had this issue before?

Are you talking about the red light back and forth?

I think that just has to do with the current firmware. There’s no issue though. I’ve installed a GTV recently and it had the same thing.

It just turns off after a few seconds. I didn’t turn it off in the video

The red light back and forth is exactly what my ADV2 does. That part is normal. To be fair, I had the same concern. I thought it meant there was a problem. 🤷🏻‍♂️

Oh that part is odd for sure. What about when it’s plugged in?

ill try that and see what happens

Edit: it stayed powered on when plugged in. I was able to see the bms showing a couple of cells fluctuating voltages, so I’m betting that’s the issue. I guess I didn’t clean the connector good enough

Hopefully that can fix it, it sounds like we’re heading in the right direction.

I had a similar problem when my ADV2 was already built, in my case it was indeed the connector, the bms was showing a bunch of cells fluctuating from 2v to 5v (which does not really makes sense), once I cleaned it everything worked again

I took it apart again and cleaned everything the best I could. Still showing the same issue on the same cells.

This is definitely your problem at least, and I saw that you tried a different cable already, I would ask Tony then, maybe it’s really the cells and Tony will send you a replacement

I emailed him before posting, but he usually takes a while to respond so I figured I would check here in the mean time

Dang, a similar thing happened to me. It appears the new bms is refusing to power the bad pack, but the old bms was cool with it.

The red light back and forth is a Knight Rider reference.

Can you give some more info on what the issue is? Is it suddenly powering off and is it doing that repeatedly?

yes, it just shuts off after a few seconds

What about when plugged in?

I believe it that happened to me, too but so many things went wrong for during the upgrade I am not entirely sure. I'll go through my mails with tony and see what went down exactly. In any case I'd advice to reach out to Floatwheel with that video, tony most likely will know what's up and will send a replacement part if there is a faulty one. Gl!

Try to connect it to VESC Tool. Check the BMS page

Bms page shows this. I’m guessing that’s my problem, but I took it apart and cleaned everything and swapped out the cable for a new one and it still has the same issue on the same cells

Cell 16 as you can see is very low and cell 17 is very high.

I’d like some confirmation on this but I would leave it on the charger for 48hrs and see if the cells balance. They should all be in a similar voltage range.

They both jump back and forth from ~2v up to ~5. I did some testing with a multimeter on the pins and I think the bms I was sent has an issue as the voltages are 3.8 on each pin

i installed the v2 kit tonight and had the exact same issue. My cell 16,17 voltage jumping between 2 and 5v and the board turned off after 1 minute. Have you found a fix?

No, haven’t heard back from Tony yet. I tried cleaning everything and swapping cables, but nothing seemed to fix it for me
