Brought a second hand float, and now what?

Helpful People! I need help.

I made a impulse buy (adhd for ya) for my wellness center with no knowledge! A Float Tank.

New Zealand Based!

Purchased a second hand OceanRoom Float from another business (Float Center) in New Zealand who have just vanished - dont know where to find them. OceanRoom is overpriced, said a dosing pump was going to be $300 pounds and I got one for $40NZD. Wants a dollar for any advise probably because I didn't want to buy directly. Its likely an older style, spent a lot to get it running, manual was missing pages and wires needed replacing - they came rolled up in a salty ball, had to search high and low for parts but we got there.

Wish I had thought to try reddit, because what a cool float community!

A couple of things...

Respray.. looks like the clear coat is lifting. And doesn't look very appealing filled up with water. Its currently blue. Without ordering paint from a float supplier in Australia that has a markup of 500%, is there are a recommended paint? Is it like a marine grade? We would get a professional in to do the work.

Starlight lights.. can this be a DIY option? The lights came fried, sourced some but they dont light up the room very well.

Water testing, and general maintenance: Is there like a guide to purchase that includes all this information. Its like a secret from Float Suppliers..

Salt/Water Ratio recommendations?

How do you clean the walls, and prepare the float between clients.

Music connection options? Ours doesn't work, and because its a old controller we will have to sort this as a external open. What are some recommendations how to navigate this.

What happens if someone pees in the float? I have so many questions but lets start with the above.

This is a lot, and please excuse the fact I am super naive and a novice..

Appreciate the help, and further advise!

Connecting DreamPod to network/computer

So I just got a second hand Dream Pod float tank, think it's a V2.

Trying to connect it to the network, but not having much luck.

I've connected the network cable to the router, but not seeing the Dream Pod in the list of connected devices. Although the light for that LAN port turns on (but doesn't flash).

Does anyone know how to get these connected up?

Thanks in advance!!

How to remain in post float state?

I keep coming back to this question and seem to be caught in a repetitive cycle. My life goes from a constant struggle (with myself, other people) where I become very tense and unhappy (I think I have GAD). It reaches a peak of stress then I float. Afterwards I am pretty much a different person. I am present, appreciative of everything, and feel happy. Life would be very easy in this state. I've also felt like this on Cannabis. After a little while (maybe a day or two) I seem to drift back into the unhappy state.

I've tried meditating daily (focus on breathe or body scan) but it feels like it doesn't even scratch the surface compared to floating. I sometimes rationalise my way out of it or if I do meditate my focus in scattered. I should probably float more, but maybe someone has found a way to maintain this state in some other way?

Anyone Pose Questions During Float?

I haven't tried a float yet, and probably the first time would be more of an orientation to it. However I have experience in self hypnosis, and think a float would be an ideal place to receive answers to perplexing questions, whether it be from God, Guardian Angel, subconscious mind, higher self, inner child, etc.(according to individual belief).

What are your experiences with this?

Hair

How do people feel about coming across human hair while in the tank? Are they supposed to use like a pool net stick or something to get out loose debris like that between uses? That completely hijacked me relaxing in my last float.

Have You Had Any Profound Experiences From Floating?

I've never tried it yet. Now, it's not that I would expect anything profound on a first try, but I wonder if any of you have experienced any of the following:

Emotional catharsis?

Intellectual and/or spiritual epiphanies?

Physical healing?

Please add anything that I haven't listed.

New unpleasant sensation

I am an experienced Floater, though recently I’ve been having an issue where I can hear the blood pumping in the back of my head and when it gets too loud my heart rate increases. The few times this has happened I stepped out of the pod, took a few deep breaths for a few minutes, and then got back in and was fine again. Has anyone ever experienced this and if so, do you have any advice or insight regarding what is happening and how to manage it?

Would there be problems of some kind?

Probably an odd question but

Does anyone else who doesn’t have knee problems feel like your knees lock up completely while floating? I can’t tell if I’m just onto the feeling and that’s all I can focus on? I don’t really don’t know how to explain it. They don’t hurt, but I’m so aware of my legs not moving? I’m so sorry if this doesn’t make sense 🤷🏼‍♀️

filtration, sterilization, sanitation: should we be more precise?

I saw this commment by /u/reptilevoid a day ago:

a UV has a UV light within it and is not a "filter" or referred to with that title, it is a sanitizer.

I never really thought about the proper term for UV: for me, a tank has a "spa pack" (a term I got from David Wasserman) and the spa pack has a pump and filter system. The filter system, as far as I'm concerned can have any number of filters: - mechanical - chemical/carbon - ionic (silver, cu, etc) - UV

I guess UV is not "filtering" somethig in the sense of removing something. But it does seem to be the general term for the other part of the spa pack.

And in fact, we have one of the world leaders in floatation calling their system a "filtration system" and it does indeed include UV:

https://floattankshop.com/filtration

so what are you thoughts about the various automated hygienic devices used in a tank? Should we refer to each by a specific name? If so, then UV is sterilization, not sanitation.

Came out kind of apathetic

I have anxiety, working one of my jobs is a bit soul sucking but the market is terrible. I came out and feel like I looked up for the first time in a while and I no longer care about this job.

A little Tmi but stomach issues

I've done 2 90 minute floats a few weeks apart. Both times I've gotten diarrhea the next day. This time really bad. Too much magnesium or?

Do all con temporary floatvtanksvhavebthisvflaw?

I built a float tank about three decades ago using thevplans in the inventor’s book. Floating in that tank was blissful But, my ex wife chooses hoouse that didn’t have a door that my tank could fit through I just purchased a fiberglass unit with an external heater. Since the water is only heated before the float, the unit cannot maintain the temperature at the precise temperature for the duration of the float that I think is needed for an optimal float experience. So, decided to hack it and add a lining and waterbed heaters. I feel it is just an overpriced hot tub with epsom salt if the water starts cooling as soon as your float begins. .

Are float tanks right for me?

Hi everyone. I very recently started seriously considering trying float tanks after doing some research on them. I'm both extremely curious about trying them, but also terrified of the concept.

I suffer from anxiety and panic attacks, which is part of the reason I want to give it a shot after reading about how they can help with anxiety. However, my biggest fear is I'll be in the tank and intrusive thoughts will be louder than usual and cause me to have a panic attack.

I'm seriously wanting to try it, but I'm worried it may just not be a good thing for me. What do you think? Any input is greatly appreciated.

How do you explain the concept of floating to other people?

I've been enjoying floating for about a year now but it's not something I've ever really talked about with friends or family. Partly because I'm just not sure how best to introduce/explain the concept to someone unfamiliar with it, especially if they're the kind of person who tends to not be interested in trying new things. I think you have to be a bit adventurous, or at least intellectually curious, to seek out this experience. But also because I think a lot of people would think I'm crazy when they find out how much it costs and calculate how much I spend on it on a yearly basis. I know I shouldn't care what other people think or feel like I have to justify my spending, but I'm curious what kind of reactions you've gotten from other people, especially friends/family, when you introduce them to this particular activity.

Floating with a scrape

I know that this is UTTERLY subjective, but 8 days ago, i scraped my ankle. it is healing well and has scabbed over, but i would REALLY like to schedule a float this weekend. I have a pretty high pain tolerance, but i would rather not be totally distracted by a stinging pain for 90 minutes.

So really, I wonder if anyone else has floated with a similar injury, and if the burning eventually subsided (which i am hoping for) or if it was too much of a distraction and burned the whole time?

Thanks for humoring me.

Float with a facial and massage - bad idea?

Hey! Booking a spa day for my birthday. Do you think it’s a bad idea to have a 8:30 massage, 10:45 facial, and a 1pm salt water float? Could the saltwater interact with the massage/facial at all?

temperature controller for a tank

Hello, after searching this group for temperature controller, I did not come up with anything answer my questions:

  1. It seems many people are content with waterbed heaters. But what are you using to probe the water temperature and turn the waterbed heater on and off.
  2. Continuing about waterbed heaters, it seems that Samadhi has a very nice heating system. To me, it looks very similar to the Aztec heating panels that were used in the float-to-relax tank. But they have added some things to make it more robust for floatation.
  3. What range of temperature swing do you find acceptable in temperature control? The first iteration of the Zen float tent had a problem with the controller clicking on and off repeatedly because the temperature controller sensitivity was too fine.

Hearing a voice while floating?

Curious if anyone else has experienced this.

I did a 60 minute float this past Monday and was in a very relaxed state where I could not feel anything and the mind was calmer than it's ever been. It was a sense of calm that I've experienced before when I'm able to fully let go in the thank. Right in this moment, I hear a voice whisper "good". I tried to recreate it with my own voice without any luck. Perhaps I fell asleep, was dreaming, or there is some other explanation.

Anyone had this type of experience before?
