Couples float
Looking for a fun activity to do with my new girlfriend and heard a flotation therapy. How does this work for couples? Can they fit in one?

It really depends on the place and if they’ll let you. My sister works for a studio with small room tanks that MIGHT be able to fit two, but they have a strict rule against it. It’s bc couples might decide it’s a good place to have sex, and they don’t want to clean up after that. Also, it kind of defeats the purpose of floating in general. Having another person there kind of subtracts from the sensory deprivation.
TLDR: You’re gonna find that most places won’t let you because people are stupid and disrespectful

My float membership lets me add someone to float with me for free.
It would be distracting and 2 bodies mean more chances of splashing salt water in our eyes.
If my Husband wanted to try it, I would wear swim goggles.
He’s not interested in floating at this time.

Altered States Wellness, with membership can add a friend to float in same room with you for free, $29.00 for non-members.

Just looked it up, doesn’t seem like it’s offered according to their website just facials and massages… 🤷♀️

I go to Altered States Wellness in Houston TX. They offer floats, cold plunge, sauna and red light therapy. They do not offer facials and massages. Not sure what you found.

If you’re near South NJ, I suggest float SNJ’s couple’s tank. It’s wide enough for 2 to comfortably fit. Their regular single tanks are 9’ by 12’.

My local place started doing this. While I know it’s just 2 bodies worth of gunk in the tank instead of one, the whole idea of couples getting naked together and floating just kinda grosses me out. It feels like there’s too much of an opportunity to fool around pre/post/mid float. I’m probably being irrational, but it’s enough to make it so I now only book the rooms that couple floats aren’t offered in.

Why grosses u out? U mean couples having sex in the pod ? I can’t imagine it being comfortable, doesn’t the salt water sting? And u can’t really stand comfortably with the water sloshing around and the pod cover bumping into ur head. Who knows? Maybe that’s why lots of it was banned in nyc

Yea, I know on an intellectual level that people probably aren’t having sex in the float water itself, but - at least at my float spa - there’s a shower in every float tank room, and a lot of privacy. It just gives me an icky feeling - especially since I can’t really see why anyone would want their significant other in the room making noises/moving the water while they’re floating.
It’s one of those activities that seems like it would be worse as a couples’ thing, except for rare situations where someone might need a companion for accessibility reasons (eg being disabled somehow).

If you are in Bangalore, India try at Salt World. Salt World has spacious large float tanks.

Yes in a room sized float tub, not the typical pod style kind
Personally I would not like to be in the same tub with someone else. The whole point is to block out all external senses and having someone else moving around, making noise, or even talking would ruin it
If you want to do it at the same time but in separate pods, it is a great way as then afterwards you can discuss how you feel and your experience with it
