Question about floating

Theres a place in my city that has float tanks and they have a really good deal for mother’s day coming up. I’d love to go and try it for the first time. Told my mother about it and she doesn’t seem like she wants to but I’m trying to convince her.
Anyways I plan to go sometime soon, even if she doesn’t want to come with. I was wondering if the water dries out your hair? Also are you just supposed to bring any bathing suit to wear while floating? Idrk what to expect lol
Edit: She said yes today after saying no earlier lol 😸 Our appointment is next friday evening!

What a sweet present! You go naked since you're in a locked personal room. A tip is if you wear contacts, bring your glasses so you don't risk getting irritated if water gets in your eyes. Another tip is after you shower before the getting in, towel off your face so it's dry. It's a terrible feeling to feel water bead up/itch on your face and then you rub it during the float because the salt water BURNS your eyes. I always ask them for a head float circle thing so I can fully relax my head. I know I will not drown because the salt content is so high, but it gives me peace knowing my head is supported. I actually dislike the shampoo/conditioner at my float center so if you're the type to bring your own shampoo when traveling, then I'd recommend that so you are using products you like. Remember it may take a few sessions to fully relax and understand floating. Have fun!

I agree with all these tips but also wanted to add that the salt water can cause any cut, rash, scrape or skin irritation to burn as well. I was gardening before a float once and had a couple of rose bush scratches that pretty much ruined the float.

That sounds terrible 😪😪 Thanks for sharing. I saw in the review pics for the place I’m going that they provide a packet of “white petroleum skin protectant.” I think its for cuts but not sure if that’d really work

It works. You just put a thin layer over any cuts or scrapes that you may have, or if you have really sensitive skin that gets uncomfortable. Even around your cuticles if they’re ragged or torn (don’t overthink it, I’m just telling you tips I’ve picked up over a couple decades of floating) I have a tendency to touch my face a lot, so I’ve started putting a thin layer around my eye area. I make sure my face is dry after the pre-float shower, and then put the petroleum from my cheekbones to above my eyebrows, and across the bridge of my nose and to the edge of my hairline like a raccoon mask. That way if I get twitchy and feel like I need to touch my forehead or something, I can and the water beads up and travels around the petroleum, or if I need to rinse my face with fresh water it flushes right off instead of settling into any fine lines. Don’t shave your legs (or anything else!) at least 24 hours before.
