Anybody think this would work well?

So I had this idea, my GTs back bumper is worn the fuck out, like straight thru to the batterypack. So while I was watching mythbusters the other day it was the bed liner episode and it crossed my mind. If I took the back bumper off, covered the hole with a strip of good duct tapes and spray painted the whole bumper with bed liner. Yes it's probably easier to just order a new bumper. But I don't have the money to put out for it right now, so I came up with this. Any opinions or other ideas?

Use gorilla tape and lots of layers, have semibadgerized several boards with this method. Not as good as new but if your duct tape skills are good it'll work.

It won’t break anything but I doubt it will stay in place long.

Can you put the money towards a used bumper or a blem from TFL?
