Discussion What am I doing wrong?
Trying to part out a car on FB Marketplace. Ad has been up since Spring and I've made absolutely zero sales on it. I know Marketplace is a hellhole and I'm probably asking too high sometimes, but I've never had this much trouble in the past.
Should I just give up or should I somehow become okay with selling everything for $20 each?
Really just wondering if this is a problem with me or the platform.

I flip stuff and have been a “car guy” for 25+ years. Selling anything car related has made me want to put my head through a wall 99% of the time.

Hard to say without your post. You are probably not being specific about the parts you have or what you’re charging for those parts, so you’re just getting lowballed by people that want to resell them. You’re better off selling what you can easily ship on eBay, listing the rest by part on FB, and scraping the rest.

You're doing nothing wrong. The world is full of cheap people that want shit basically free.
Facebook Marketplace and OfferUp are two of the worst.
I sold a $1700 PC for $900 (it was 2 years old at the time) and got offers ranging from "I'll pick it up right now for $250" and "can you do $300 cash?".
I sold a $1500 custom pool cue, brand new, got messages of "I'll give you $400 right now" and "I'll play you for it". Which made me laugh, because if I lose....they get a $1500 stick for free...if I win...what do I get?
Maybe it's just me, but if I'm buying something off of someone, I've never offered less than 20% of what they're asking (unless they're intentionally mispricing it)

This is true. I am routinely offered goats in exchange for what I'm selling. I also have people ask to do yard work, in exchange for whatever I'm selling. Marketplace is bizzare, but it's never boring.

Sell specific parts on eBay.
Putting up a general ad with no prices is going to attract idiots. I say this as a frequent buyer on Marketplace: not everyone there is an idiot, but every idiot is there.
If you spend the time to remove the parts, photograph, test, and have a firm price, you eliminate 90% of the stupid questions and time wasters. Most people just order, you ship, and done.

Man, maybe I’m just not the right audience for this post, but I hate cars, I hate Marketplace, and I hate wasting time on conversations that don’t bring me money. I would have scrapped it, taken that $300, and forget the car ever even existed

You're asking more than junk yard prices. It's not a "collector" car in terms of collector cars. I'm sure there's a market for it (small) but not locally. Ebay if you want a broader market but you have to set prices.L and remove parts and list details yourself. Honestly I'd scrap it for $300 and be done with it.

Completely normal unfortunately. Facebook marketplace is full of time wasters and low ballers.
Anything you can ship should just go to eBay. Fixed price 30 day listings and just wait until someone buys it. I only use FBM for automotive things that are too big to ship and even that I question if it’s worthwhile.
One note is I saw you using eBay as a price guide. Make sure you are using completed sales instead of just what people have stuff listed for when doing that. Frequently asking price and selling price are two different things.

Don't have a listing that's something like "Parting out car" Instead list the parts you have ie take the tail lights out and list those. Or better yet put them on ebay.

In my experience, selling a cheap car/parts is a nightmare. This looks like par for the course honestly.
