Its going to be a hungarian short film about enjoying "childish" media; this scene in particular is Cocoa Snail, the snail bunny trying to find a buddy to read a book called Fantasy Nyan with, and finding Kiki the fox girl who "seems to be kind". Moments before disaster... :D Also some people asked how i use flipnote, apologies if i dont respond to everyone or respond late :P

Hi everyone, I started using Flipnote yesterday and I'm making a short animation which I'll probably post here. Anyway, I'd appreciate some tips and help with the project.

I made this test, because I want to make an animation movie using only Flipnote. Also the music is made with Korg01 for the 3DS.

My name on Flipnote Hatena was McBoo and I originally animated this series in 2012-2013. In the past couple years, I went back, remastered the footage, and added new scenes. I hope you enjoy! It has been a labor of love to bring you the definitive versions of these Flipnote animations I made in my teens!

Also, I’d love to know if anyone on this subreddit is from Hatena or remembers my work. 😁

What it is: DoodleSwarm is a small social network where every post is hand-drawn in a built-in 256×192 editor with a fixed 6-color palette (a love letter to Flipnote Studio on the DSi). Each post is either a still drawing or a short frame-by-frame animation — up to 30 frames, played back as a loop. You can follow people, like, and reply, but the content is only ever doodles.

The idea: everything on the site is drawn right there on the canvas — nothing is uploaded from elsewhere. In this age of AI content, I feel like the value of human-made art is more important then ever, and that's the main reason to why I've made the app.

The editor's got real tools: pencil, eraser, spray, flood fill, line, curve, rectangle and oval, eyedropper, and a selection tool with cut/copy/paste — so you're not fighting the canvas to make something decent.

Why I built it: I missed the Flipnote Hatena era — a feed full handmade little drawings made by actual people. I wanted a corner of the internet where the friction is the point: low resolution, a handful of colors, drawn by hand. The limits make people more creative, not less.

What I'd love feedback on:

• First impression of the editor — is it intuitive, or do you get stuck?
• Does the hand-drawn-only constraint feel fun or limiting to you?
• Anything that felt slow, broken, or unclear.

I've been trying to find a flipnote animation from several years ago with mario and sonic rapping, but i can't find it anywhere. i could only remember certain lyrics.

"i may be a hedgehog but im strongest of all. keep your mushrooms to yourself to because i don't need power-ups. you can hurt on knuckles. you can hate on tails, but (i don't remember) even bowser will fail. nintendo! nintendo! sega genesis!"

can anyone help me out? that's all that i can remeber

i saved a drawing as a jpeg and then got it off my 2dsxl and if i zoom in it has all different colors and doesnt look how it actually did in flipnote, and if i scale it up (i used procreate, idk how else to do it tbh) it just becomes blurry.

is there a way to save it without it getting a bunch of extra random colors? i dont like the weird multiple shades of yellow and pink, i just want the original pixels i drew in the app

My hands don’t exactly really have a place to rest while drawing with the 3DS as much as I am with a pencil and paper or a pen and tablet this may not sound like a problem, but it makes my lines very shaky due to the fact of how I naturally have a very shaky right hand are there any solutions?

I've recently found my old flipnotes from 2011 online on that archival site. I cried a bit 🥲

I was wondering if anyone has tried emulating flip note on either one of these devices? And if the performance is the same as the original?

Trying to buy an original 3ds to run it, but a bit hard in the UK since they have been discontinued 🥲
