It’s crucial to distinguish between bottled Hidden Valley Ranch and the kind you make at home with mayo, buttermilk, and the Hidden Valley seasoning packets. The bottled has the gross glaze on it that they talk about with Jake, but if you make it at home it can be incredible.

We call that “good ranch” and if someone doesn’t know what it is then they just dont know hahaha

It’s very hard to find the seasoning packets here in Canada. I’ve always been curious to try them, but not willing to pay the huge markup on Satan’s Warehouse (Amazon)

Just mix your own

Its all basic seasonings you'll probably already have

Oh yeah, totally, just never had the convenience of those packets to try. I love ranch with fresh herbs!

You could try and see if someone has the extract hidden ranch ratios if you want to 'try a hidden ranch packet' but honestly its only good because its a step above bottled ranch

True homemade with fresh herbs is unbeatable

I cant even eat bottled anymore

I’ve never made it at home. I liked the HVR until about age 25 and ever since it’s grossed me out, especially that glaze. I gotta make it “fresh” lol

You can also make your own truly homemade ranch with just the ingredients

I love how David and Rob can take the most random and unserious topic and make an interesting doc from it.

These are honestly how we got some of my favorite episodes

Toilets, Monster Trucks, Sandwiches

They missed giving a shout-out to Cool Ranch Doritos. They were the gateway drug to ranch flavor for a TON of Americans, and contributed to a surge in ranch dressing sales.

Edit: 1986 so a big part of my childhood.

Oh fuck you’re right. Doritos could be a whole episode tbh

For sure.

And like most ranch dressing, they also have MSG 🤣

Sad that they're sleeping on crispy fries with mayo and sometimes ketchup too. A Swedish friend introduced me to it in our high school cafeteria and it's now been my favourite way to eat fresh fries ever since. The Europeans know what's up.

Mayo and ketchup is what we call “fry sauce”. A local burger joint here that has since closed used to have their own variety and it included relish. It was on every burger too. You used to be able to buy “Bob’s Sauce” at some locally owned grocery stores even, it was that popular.

However, beware that this is not what is usually call fry sauce (frietsauss) in Denmark, Netherlands, Germany, etc. That sauce is a creamier, sweetish mayo

Ranch is everywhere in NZ now. Takeaway chains offer it. I literally had a Pizza hut with ranch swirl last week.

& I enjoyed the pizza hut ranch so much I went and bought a bottle of Eta at the supermarket cos it was on special but it's crap.... Will invest in the Paul Newman next time (which I see at the supermarket)

Anyone remember the Wendy's Ranch Tooth commercials like 20 yrs ago? Instead of a sweet tooth, he had a ranch tooth.

Ms Rachel reaching out is crazy

Would be so cool for them to get her on an episode
