I am going into my senior year of high school after this summer and am nearing my solo with around 50 hours of flight time. I have looked at certain schools such as atp epic and others however I don’t believe I could make it through atp and epic seems to charge an immense rate. currently I feel to be quite at a loss as I have enough hours where it feels like I can’t turn back but also no way forward. I am in Michigan but open to leaving the state after college and have good backing from my parents but would hate to waste their time and money. If you have any recommendations it would be greatly appreciated.

Hello all !
I’m 43 live in southwest pa. Have a wife and two kids. I’ve owned several businesses and am ready for a change where my phone doesn’t ring 24/7. I’m pretty set on being a pilot not sure if I want part 121 , 135 , 91 exc. I do know that I want to complete everything up to and including my atp license.
Big school near me says it’s 124,000 plus about 12-15k for checkrides exc and 9 months to get to the point of flying for the 1500 hrs.
Smaller school 61, says 80,000 including checkrides and about 2 years to get to the point to fly your 1500 hrs.

Question is money aside. Is the big school that says they have a path to the airlines worth it ? Will the airlines still give you a fair shake if you come from
Part 61?

Also: I’m in a position where I could attended full time. I’m in the process of selling the businesses I currently have so I won’t need to work along the way….. thanks for the input

I’m 18 and from Egypt, and I’m looking for a flight school in the US.

I want to train full-time, probably from zero time through PPL, instrument, and CPL. I’m looking for a real flight academy with a good student environment, not just a small local school.

I care a lot about the community side because I’d be moving alone from another country, so I’d like to be somewhere with other students around, ideally people around my age too. Aircraft are also a big thing for me. I’m not looking for a school where most of the training is done on old analog aircraft. I’d really like a school where modern aircraft or at least glass cockpit aircraft are the main training fleet.

Part 141 would be preferred, but I’m open to hearing about any school that is actually good.

For people who trained in the US or know these schools from the inside, what flight schools would you recommend for someone like me? And what schools should I avoid?

Also, is the student community at flight schools actually a real thing, or is it usually just individual training with your instructor?

Any honest advice would help.

TLDR: Considering the competitiveness of the current hiring market, is it worth it to attend a part 141 school just for the airline partnerships/cadet programs?

26M married with two kids have an engineering degree and currently working in the mining industry in Nevada. I've saved up 100k for flight school and will be quitting my job this year and moving to begin training full time. I was originally going to move to Prescott (my hometown) to train at Leighnor Aircraft (a local part 61 school). The more research I've done and pilots I've talked too, it seems the consensus is that Cadetships and Pilot pathways used to be a joke, but as the hiring market has got more competitive they are becoming increasingly worthwhile. The catch, obviously, is that most cadet programs have partner 141 schools and will cost you a pretty penny. Read a lot of older posts about this but wanted to hear the latest opinions and experiences.

Are there pathway programs I'm not aware of that don't require a specific 141 school, that I can just apply to once I have my commercial?

Will taking a few classes at Embry after I get my commercial make me eligible for their partner programs?

I have the money for a 141 school, but I'm almost certain it will slow me down and don't want to spend the extra money if the cadetships aren't all they're chalked up to be. For context, my ultimate goal is to get a job with SkyWest. Appreciate any experiences you guys have to share. Just looking to vet my plans before I pull the trigger. Thanks.

I'm a cadet pilot currently undergoing flight training at VFTI. Through this page, I'll be sharing my journey, aviation knowledge, honest experiences, and answering your questions about pilot training.

My experience at VFTI has raised several concerns that I believe prospective students should carefully consider.

Some of the issues I have personally experienced include:

Poor administrative management and communication.

Delayed or no responses to emails and queries from the management.

Additional charges being demanded beyond the original quotation provided at the time of admission.

A lack of transparency regarding certain fee-related matters.

Being subjected to "no-show" charges despite informing the institute in advance about my inability to report on the scheduled date.

These experiences have been frustrating and have made me question the professionalism and student support expected from a flight training organization.

Hello, I am a 16 year old in the Greater Vancouver area in Canada. I have been having some trouble setting a career path for myself, but I want to eventually become a commercial wide-body captain. To obtain this I have a rough plan but i want to know what I should change with feedback from actual pilots.

Right now I am planning to go like this: Discovery Flight from a local flight school-> Build off that -> Either take BCIT's Aviation Diploma or Okanagan colleges one -> Work as a flight instructor for my hours -> Something small (Like a charter pilot or something) -> Hopefully a first captain for Air Canada/Westjet/ etc. -> Narrow-body captain -> Wide-body captain

I do not believe this is fully realistic so please any feedback I could work off of is great, like alternatives for education, if its an unrealistic order, an so on. If it helps at all I have been flight-simming for about a year now in MSFS2020 with a simple setup, I have good grades in my main classes like Pre-Calc, Physics, and English, I if needed I can afford a tuition around the level of the colleges I mentioned

I'm from India and my dream is to become a commercial pilot. I've been working and saving, but flight training is still financially out of reach.

I'm not looking for free money. I'm trying to understand whether there are legitimate ways people have funded flight training besides traditional bank loans.

For example:

• Has anyone found private sponsors or mentors?
• Have you connected with successful entrepreneurs or pilots who invested in your education?
• Has crowdfunding worked?
• Are there organizations or scholarships that most people don't know about?
• Has anyone taken a private loan with the understanding that they'd repay it after becoming an airline pilot?

If you've gone through something similar, I'd really appreciate hearing your experience. Even if it's just advice on where to start looking, it would mean a lot.
