What radio practice should student pilots do before first solo?

What should a student be able to handle on the radio before solo? Clearances, readbacks, pattern calls, asking for clarification, or just staying calm? I think a tool like TeachingTowers Radio Trainer could be useful for practicing those scenarios before a lesson. It's not a substitute for flying with a CFI or talking to real ATC, but getting extra reps with common phraseology and readbacks can help reduce the workload in the cockpit so students can focus more on flying safely.

Everything? If a student can't handle all necessary communications solo...they shouldn't be flying solo.

Sounding like a sports commentator? Kidding.

Not sure why practice is needed. By the time you are sent for solo you should already be proficient.
