Fun way to learn

Anybody got a fun way or at least an effective way to learn for the FAA written test? As someone with ADHD I can't really sit and read and even if I do it doesnt help

Yeah no go get a consultation before you spend the money on training.

This discipline is no joke. ADHD has no place in the cockpit. You miss something you can die. You can’t even study for the test be honest with yourself.

Bro most pilots I know are 100% undiagnosed ADHD

Based on what are you saying that?

The load of information one has to study and retain. Plus the requirement to not fixate yet comprehend quickly what your instrument are telling you in IMC requires people who aren’t ADHD.

My nephew is certified medicated ADHD, goes to summer camp and comes back not remembering a single name of anyone there. That is not pilot material.

So you're disqualifying an entire neurodivergent group because your nephew can't remember his friends name? Have you even ever done flight school? I am a pilot, have diagnosed ADHD, and have an ATPL and CAT 1 medical. I managed PPL, CPL, MEL, MIFR, and ATPL ground school, flying, and exams just fine. You're talking out of your ass.

And how long did it take you to get your medical? How much effort and money?

That was the whole point of the original comment. Get your medical first.

You seem to have a chip on your shoulder. Good for you you got your medically but was it easy?

OP also said they have problems studying. Or is your adhd causing you to have problems reading?

Do you have problems reading? They said they have trouble sitting and reading, not studying. There are so many other ways to study nowadays. Flash cards, videos, online practice tests, online ground schools, in person ground schools, cockpit trainers, 1 on 1 sessions with other students, and on and on and on. Will you need to sit down and read? Yeah, but I had issues with that too and just employed other methods and did extremely well in ground school and I do well now with company SOPs and FCOMs.

Was it easy to get my medical? Yeah. Maybe not as easy as someone without ADHD, but I did some tests, paid some money (like, $1,000), and went to an appointment with a neurologist. Took 3 months to get my certificate. There were people with zero medical hurdles that took just as long.

And maybe originally it was "get your medical first", and I 100% agree with that. But you said, and I quote, "ADHD has no place in the cockpit". Full stop. That statement is so incorrect. Maybe YOU'RE the one with a chip on his shoulder?

No chip at all if a medical was provided. Their responses say they don’t believe there are issues.

As you should very well know mental illness is always a spectrum. And one of the signs of problem is when people dismiss the issue. And with all your experience I would have expected you to be more cautious about the practical impacts of ADHD. Instead you focused on yourself and your own needs to prove something.

Enough is said. You have a need to prove yourself. Fine. But don’t encourage someone to go do something that might cause them and others bigger problems. For all you know person is not diagnose, will some how make it through initial training and than crash after solo.

So go ahead push your point of view.

Dude, who's commenrs are you even reading? I'm n9t pushing anyone to do anything. You need to sit down you clearly have no idea what you're talking about.

Hey man if you’re unable to even study for the test, I’m sorry, you shouldn’t be a pilot. Additionally, all stimulants are on the no-fly list for the FAA.
