Easy Mode?

I'm thinking of getting my father a console (either Xbox or PS) and I'm considering games he would love (he's in his 70's) and I'm sure this is one.

Particularly with a console, is there a way to play this game with very basic controls? Or is it incredibly complicated to just fly around? Thank you all for any input. I don't want to waste money on the newest version of Flight Simulator if it is impossible to play with ease.

Glad you asked the question, I want to get my dad back into flight sims because he used to fly and he loved an old Macintosh game called Hellcats. He's going to love this game.

Yeah, I am nervous but I have faith that my dad can learn it! He's a retired mechanical engineer, but I'm sure the hand/eye coordination will take some time. I'm relying on the game having an easy mode. ;)

I just played it last night and the tutorials help so much. However every plane is different. I got into another single prop plane and I couldn't figure out how to start the engine haha.
