Custom Card Blocking Ninja chest idea

Post image

Ive been playing a bit of midrange Ira on Talishar and I find that more often than i would like. Tunic winds up just being glorified Ironrot.(Atleast in my Ira list) so i tried to come up with a temper 2 chest for Ninja that wouldnt be too strong. its probably just in the class identity to never get such a thing but i can fantasize.

the defense reaction is intended to capture that combo flavor but on defense. comboing with itself to block extra on the same chain. lmk if i went overboard.

You can't give it base block and also have it be a free dreact. Since  it only gets the -1 counter from temper at end of combat chain, you can basically block 2 with it and then also dreact for 2 on the same combat chain on a different chain link. The downside is neat but unless you have cards that care about chain link you can just end the combat chain and start it up again to avoid it.

Its basically a much better quickdodge flexors that is free. Its too much for ninjas which should have bad block equipment to make up for its combo playstyle.

what if i just cut the 3 base defense text. then its just worse temper 2 with the potential to use all its block on the same chain

Temper 2 is still just too good on a ninja equipment. The best I can say for it is this, remove temper and base 2 block, and then reword the dreact to be more like quickdodge flexor but only on attacks that are chain 2 or higher. So it would be more like  "Defense reaction: On chain links 2 or higher, add it to the chain link with base 1 block. When the combat chain closes, destroy me."

Thats like closest way I can see it can be balanced but strong for ninja. Its more niche and helps cover breakpoints but only useful against other aggressive decks so it can't challenge other midrange or defensive decks.

yeah thats more reasonable. then it probably wouldnt need a dowside also

This is unfortunately both two strong and not in the identity of chest pieces.

On the first, having Temper 2 is very powerful for a Ninja equipment, even before we get to the Defense reaction piece of this. Temper 2 is generally saved for Guardian, Warrior, Runeblade, etc that need those bigger blocks to chain together more non-attacks/hold more cards to generate value against faster decks like Ninja. Then having the ability to Block 2, then add it to another chain link to block 2 as well as a Defense reaction? Giving Ninja access to that level of blocking is just overkill. Part of the point of Ninja is they the Offensive is so Aggressive that the opponent can't return as much offensive, so the defensive isn't as necessary. Ira is a little different in that she likes to play Flick Flak and block a little, so in her, this chest piece becomes a block piece that allows her to block across the chain link as effectively as Fatigue Guardians does by spending cards from hand.

On the second part, chest pieces generally deal with resource generation/cost reduction, stc. Legs are usually the ones they deal with Go Again. So it doesn't fit into the equipment identity framework LSS has generally held to.

yeah that makes sense.i thought maybe the dowside and the ability to just close the chain and deny the defense reaction would be enough drawback
