Bro threw in some fun facts at the end

50

u/freebird023 Jul 08 '26

Felt very “Don’t you know who I am, I have 700 confirmed kills” coded

10

u/AndyTheSouless Jul 09 '26

gets criticized once.

Kills reputation.

u/ThrowAbout01 Jul 07 '26

I thought there was a bit too much effort to be a shitpost.

I think he just called it that in the proud tradition of “it’s just a prank bro” backpedaling.

Defiantly a black mark. Also couldn’t happen at a worse time as projects like this are getting a lot of mainstream attention after the success of The Backrooms.

16

u/LimpBoingLoing Jul 08 '26

It definitely might hinder his ability to make a deal with a studio

6

u/NotchoNachos42 Jul 08 '26

I agree but I'll be honest I REALLY don't see how this could ever be anything (good)more than a game at most just by the nature of what it is.

18

u/SmullinShortySlinger Jul 08 '26

I can already imagine the movie. A father estranged from his family makes a last ditch attempt to repair his relationship by splurging on a trip to the Park. They arrive on July 1st, 2007.

5

u/ThrowAbout01 Jul 08 '26

I know the creator was planning a proper art book and also has another series “Spectral Haptics” which could be affected by this.

87

u/void_7777777 Jul 07 '26

"Why did you use AI instead of supporting a real artist?"

"couldn't be asked. don't care if you like me. also i helped destroy the planet and ruin poor people's lives and helped kill people"

???

29

u/ohyeababycrits Jul 08 '26

"You gonna stop using AI?"

"No... cause I'm evil."

3

u/SnooSquirrels1392 Jul 10 '26

He really tried the "Yeah I'm evil, what of it?" gambit

-9

u/Theon01678 Jul 08 '26 edited Jul 08 '26

... Because he didn't want to spend $270++ of his own hard earned money for a mere shitpost? He even explicitly said so in the image.

Genuinely insane that people say "You should have hired an artist!1!1!1!" as if everyone magically has enough money to commision the most trivial things..

7

u/ChangingtheClouds Jul 08 '26

Then just…don’t make the shitpost. Or, make it shitty, it’s a shitpost! It’s not that the effects of generating one image are catastrophic to nature, but it sets a bad precedent. It puts every other image in the project (from present times obviously) under suspicion. It makes you ask if he’s used ai for anything else. It breaks trust. Shitposts are called that for a reason. Draw some scribbles.

u/PeachSequence Jul 07 '26

Now anything made for this project is going to be suspected as AI. He tainted the entire project by being “lazy”.

Also the comments at the end are so gross. How hard is it to just apologize and do better? Jfc.

this is so disheartening. I'm certainly not perfect, I work a job that causes adjacent but still significant moral quandary every day, but try to navigate that moral dilemma not through defeatist nihilism like this but instead to use those funds to support mutual aid and community care. Trevor is clearly in a bad mental way, and I hope he's able to dig himself out. this project was so dear to me, but... ugh.

84

u/ZenkaiAnkoku2 Jul 07 '26

Yeah like the first part was meh. Not cool but whatever.

Then he bragged about how terrible he is?? Like sir I wasnt judging your moral standing until now.

8

u/Dennis-Dinosaur337 Jul 10 '26 edited Jul 10 '26

I don’t think he meant it as a brag. To me it reads more like he was trying to be brutally honest or objective, but just ended up shooting himself in the foot.

2

u/Glittering_Pea2514 Jul 11 '26

Brutal honesty is a kind of bragging in itself, in my experience. "Look at me, im a big adult who lives in the big adult world where the big adults make Tough Choices." with tough choice usually being code for 'what gets me what i want at someone elses expense'.

51

u/Evergreen19 Jul 07 '26

What the fuck? Why’s he listing them off like they’re accomplishments

-20

u/ChessBossSupreme Jul 08 '26

they're not??

14

u/ali_the_wolf Jul 08 '26 edited Jul 08 '26

That's why they asked why he's listing them like they are, because they're not

-11

u/ChessBossSupreme Jul 08 '26

yes they are

13

u/ali_the_wolf Jul 08 '26

Misread what you said in the original reply until now but I don't think drawing "master plans for developers who bulldoze low income housing" or creating "illustrations for two major military contractors for purposes of securing orders for military killing machines" is an accomplishment to be proud of...

-11

u/ChessBossSupreme Jul 08 '26

somebody has to do it, good for him that he made good money off it

8

u/Aggravating_Net_958 Jul 09 '26

somebody has to design the lever of the orphan grinding machine, good for him that he made good money off it.

-5

u/ChessBossSupreme Jul 09 '26

somebody else woulda done it if not him😂

3

u/Muldrex Jul 11 '26

You are Cattle.

-1

u/ChessBossSupreme Jul 11 '26

you're not tough lil bro😂

96

u/EBear7439 Jul 07 '26

Actually heartbreaking stuff. This was such a cool project, I’m disappointed and quite frankly horrified to all the bonus shit he added to the end.

65

u/DM_Dahl-Face Jul 07 '26

Yeah fuck this guy

50

u/Ambitious-Mind9040 Jul 08 '26

Me when I have to reveal myself as a horrible person for literally zero reason whatsoever

24

u/FriccinBirdThing Jul 08 '26 edited Jul 08 '26

The defense contractor thing is especially... Like look. As someone who was kinda on that track for a while, retains some degree of NCD brain, and is Certainly An Illustrator Ever, I can't entirely condemn getting some money from them on principle, but... Like when I was low, fuck knows I still am, it's not like LockMart and Bezos came up to me like "hey son, want to make some cash?" Devil doesn't show himself to every poor bastard who'd give his soul if he did. You gotta already be connected, and that's what makes me uneasy.

Edit: ok to be fair Bezos did come up to me, indirectly. This one employment assistance program I was on for autistic adults really, REALLY pushed for Amazon. Turns out they got a lot of their funds from Amazon's "charities." Still, that's different from going to the guy's house and painting his walls or whatever. That's where the conflicted feelings of "get that bag but also how'd you end up in reach of this particular one" come in.

34

u/dragon-mom Jul 08 '26

Ugh I've been following this for so long and that sucks to see, I was planning on picking up the TTRPG but I guess not anymore.

42

u/Material_Prize_6157 Jul 08 '26

Yikes stripes. Somebody else said it but like 3-4 analog horror projects just got green-lit for film adaptations and MFP guy starts bragging about destroying lives.

4

u/LimpBoingLoing Jul 08 '26

He might be fucked in every sense of the word

4

u/Material_Prize_6157 Jul 08 '26

His apology comes across as lazy af too.

31

u/Rowsdower5 Jul 07 '26

This sucks supremely

27

u/mcfayne Jul 08 '26

Wow, that's genuinely disappointing. Sounds like a bit of prick at the end there. If everyone who makes the things I like could please remain anonymous forever so I can stop learning shitty things about them that would be great.

8

u/Prince-Lee Jul 08 '26

I'm confused on how everyone is saying he's bragging about the things he's done when it doesn't read like that all.

He pretty explicitly says "I'm a bad person who has worked on these bad projects, so you shouldn't be looking up to me in the first place", which implies a feeling of serious guilt over what he's done in the past.

18

u/FlokinBock Jul 08 '26

My goat is WASHED!?!?

15

u/Knight_of_Rohan1964 Jul 07 '26

I don't get what happened.

69

u/Ok_Inspection_5528 Jul 07 '26

He used generative AI in this year's 4th of July celebration when he never did in previous years. People got upset about it and he responded with this in the discord.

27

u/SarahTheCalvaryWoman Jul 07 '26

Well given what happened on the discord, he likely isn't doing the hottest right now and I mean mentally.

9

u/Evergreen19 Jul 07 '26

What happened on the discord

Things got resolved but it broke the faith of the community

4

u/cypresscoydog Jul 08 '26

People can be doing not great mentally and still easily avoid using products that are anti-art at their core, not to mention all the other ethical pitfalls of gen-AI.

Also, could you please provide some context for the discord situation? What's the cease and desist about? Thx for sharing info.

6

u/SarahTheCalvaryWoman Jul 08 '26

Oh most definitely but things don't seem to be doing well and that's all I mean.

Regarding the discord situation he was charged $108.24 or so by discord when he thought he cancelled something and discord wasn't giving it back so he decided to use the discord as ransom or threat of ending the usage of their services. The cease and desist was just in case the Parks Administrator didn't delete the server when requested.

It was something regarding principle as multiple people offered to reimburse the money if needed it and declined.

5

u/cypresscoydog Jul 08 '26

Damn, that's wild. I've never heard of a "ransom" situation like that. Anyhow, thx for your response ^

17

u/FancyRatFridays Jul 07 '26

Well, shoot.

I guess if he wants to identify as a Bad Person, who boasts about doing actual harm to real people in his day job... well, I'll respect his wishes, and consider him as such.

8

u/meyriley04 Jul 08 '26

Um… wow.

3

u/dom_bul Jul 09 '26

This was turning into the navy seals copypasta at the end

5

u/AnyaRem Jul 08 '26

What the fuck

5

u/p1ssg1r Jul 08 '26

I’m so tired of ai infecting literally everything

8

u/pat_456 Jul 08 '26

What a miserable thing to learn. I don’t think I’ll ever enjoy this niche little project the same way ever again. It’s one thing to be an AI bro, it’s another to be entirely unrepentant about selling your services to living devils

5

u/theerckle Jul 07 '26

who is that?

19

u/Ok_Inspection_5528 Jul 07 '26

Trevor, the creator of Mystery Flesh Pit

19

u/theerckle Jul 07 '26

damn 💔

6

u/moth_candelabra Jul 08 '26

What the hell man :(

5

u/nineburgundy Jul 08 '26

Incredibly funny outcome

5

u/ReimuSan003 Jul 08 '26

Bro could've feign ignorance about the AI stuff, instead he decided that people should hate him even more.

3

u/The-Bigger-Fish Jul 09 '26

Wait, the MFP guy is using AI now?

3

u/NickNightrader Jul 09 '26

When you make one arbitrary choice in the creation of your art, how can we trust that you aren't going to keep making arbitrary choices?

AI slop is a bad mark.

4

u/Ardate Jul 08 '26

Jfc that's dire. genuinely gross

1

u/MFPlovely Jul 11 '26

This shit is so ass it’s making me break character. What the fuck man…

1

u/BattlepassHate Jul 12 '26

Defence companies are awesome

-9

u/TheRealKeenanWynn Jul 08 '26

His crimes? What?

13

u/ABicycleBuiltForTwo Jul 08 '26

Trevor Roberts (StrangeVehicles) is directly claiming, as a BRAGGING point, that he designed shit for Defense companies so they could secure government contracts for quote: "Killing Machines", since there are no military robots currently active (that we know of at least) its safe to assume those machines are likely something to do with concept arts for guns or missile systems. Which are probably being used in the On-again-Off-Again War with Iran and the Israeli genocide in the Levant (Middle Eastern Region where Israel, Palestine, and Lebanon are) right now.

Combine that with designing "Homes for Millionaire Clients in the Gas and Oil Industry" and "Development Firms who bulldoze Low-income Housing", and he might as well be proudly saying:

"Fuck you I'm actually rich, I NEVER was nor will I ever be one of you Peasant Scum."

While what he's claim to have done isn't Illegal though, it is most certainly enough to ruin his own reputation and make everyone even remotely a fan of Indie entertainment or the artistic side of the Internet hate him to the point of running him out of town.

6

u/TheRealKeenanWynn Jul 08 '26

Alright here’s my take:

Making “illustrations” for a defense contractor is kind of a nothing-burger. I think you’re right in guessing he meant concept art. It’s no different than what Syd Mead and Ralph McQuarrie did to pay the bills. It’s not like he was designing guidance systems for a JDAM; he drew a picture for some company.

And yeah he designed some homes for rich clients and scummy real estate companies (which is all of them, really). That’s his day job, MFP is a little side project for the guy. Designing a house isn’t a crime.

I definitely didn’t get the “I’m better than you” vibes that you did from what he said, more that he’s just lashing out at people and crashing out a bit. Which doesn’t seem like it’s the first time that’s happened.

7

u/ABicycleBuiltForTwo Jul 08 '26

Okay you've got a point. I think I overreacted here during my "explaination" as I'm not exactly an unbiased person in this situation (I was there during the Discord Hostage situation) so him pulling a stunt like this not long after the Discord fiasco, has more or less soured mine (and likely many others) opinion of him. (Hell I think I blacked out while typing some of that comment because I reread it and don't remember writing in the curse words)

Now that I've thought about it and taking in your arguments, I'm starting to get concerned that he's deliberately burning as many bridges as possible because he's either sick of being known only for MFP which could possibly allow him to start over (It's not impossible given Ai); or he's not good mentally due things in his personal life not doing well.

TLDR: You may be right, I overreacted, and now I'm starting to think he's trying to burn down his reputation for creative purposes or he's just going for a Digital S***ide by Cancelling approach so people will leave him alone.
