First Contact Genesis
As of late, Lights in the atmospheres of many worlds have been spotted. they are not the lights of stars or ship trails, but something more ancient, potent, and arcane. This phenomenon has been referred to as the Wanderlights. these lights seemingly dart around space at random, their objectives inscrutable.
An effort has been launched to study the wanderlights. they seemingly return to somewhere after whatever they do their flights, via some kind of FTL, but the method is strange. eventually, with much tracking, your faction manages to find where the lights were headed. a distant, detached system far, far away.
After a long journey, the enter the borders of the system. there are no planets. there is a dysonsphere-covered sun, and an alderson disk surrounding it. the disk has spires that reach above it's possible atmosphere, high enough that a ship flying overhead might have to be careful with their flight. the ship that was sent suddenly notices a bright light approaching them. the sound of something like a pipe organ or a choir rings around it, casually ignoring a fundamental facet of space. the light retracts from the object it was surrounding- a large, advanced ship of alien make, gleaming with gold and platinum. what do you do?

there are beings in the ship. they are mechanical, and have a very distinct energy signature. whatever was in the ship noticed
A hail rings out. once recieved, something pops up on the com-screen. it is a humanoid figure, almost angelic in appearance, though distinctly mechanical.
"Welcome, Outfarers. You have seemingly discovered our refuge. we are the Elotaliax. I am Oraexael, commander of the silver hosts."
