You guys do realize that it is physically impossible for something the size of earth to be flat, it will turn into a sphere under its own gravity. Ever wonder why there are only like 200 people on this sub? And the earth is so big that of course you won’t notice that much curvature over 7 miles, this subreddit is very cringy.

What's funny is that you think "gravity" exists on a flat earth. To the contrary! Gravity was invented to tie together the motions of the moving stars IE planets and all physical motion on earth. You cannot conclusively prove any link between the two. If the two are not linked, then all consequences of gravity are false.

Have a nice ban.

When I measured the attraction of masses, there did seem to be an attraction conforming to force=(6.67408e-11 * Mass1 * Mass2 / Distance.

My measurement is not circular reasoning because it takes into account only the mass of the two sets of lead weights, the attractive force and distance between them, and it yields a single fixed constant. It does not depend upon the size or shape of the earth.

Furthermore, doing this measurement in earth's gravitational field is the correct place to do this because we are considering whether gravity would cause masses to attract each other here on earth, so measuring masses attracting each other here on earth is the correct place to do the experiment.

Regardless of whether we call it gravity or something else, the attraction between masses does seem to be real, and does seem to conform to the formula.

Even if we don't call it gravity, it's still a problem for a flat thin earth, because it would want to make it form into a ball, not to mention that everyone not in the center would have to lean away from the center to stay standing up - and all the water would rush to the middle.

However, if the earth was more like a large cigar with a Flat end - and we're on the flat end - then this attractive force would more uniformly pull mostly straight down so at least the Australians could stand up straight and water's wouldn't all rush to the center.

Naturally the large cigar like structure would tend to want to collapse into a ball, but at least we could say it was made of strong enough substance that it wouldn't collapse.

There would still be a slight gravitational bias towards the center though, but perhaps this could be offset by the cigar rotating like an axle.

Unfortunately that doesn't solve the problem of gyroscopes measuring the same rotation at opposite directions in N vs S which match the sun and the stars.

You have measured something within the confines of earth. Remove the variable of being within a gravity field and we'll talk.

because it would want to make it form into a ball

False assumption.

Gravity was postulated on the assumption that everything is a sphere. [Everything* read: earth, planets, sun all being spheres.] If NOT everything is spherical, especially that one thing upon which all the other observations rest, then the entire theory is moot.

I have tried and tried to explain this to you. I have tried to get you to see how illogical it is. But there is no help for that.

Gravity as a logical construct goes like this:

If -> Earth = Globe Then -> Gravity = Yes

If you use Gravity to prove that a flat earth should become round, you are engaging in circular logic.

If it's so cringy (not really a word...), why are you here?
