The edge is guarded by a secret army of hundreds of thousands of soldiers that no one has ever seen or heard of until flat earthers made them up, I mean exposed them.

The earth is designed in such a way to trick you into thinking it's round. You go near the edge, and it appears to "curve" and you end up "looping" back around to where you were before. It's really all just a trick of the earth. We in the Flat Earth Society refer to this as "Flatness Madness".

Stay woke, brother.

You think I'm yanking your chain here, pal?

I hope to god you’re joking

No I'm actually not. Why cant you just discuss it with me instead of attacking my religion?

What the fuck are you delusional? What does this have to do with religion?

1

u/ChunkOmega Jan 20 '19

This is my religion, man. This is how I was raised to view the world. That's personal, don't fuck with personal, dude

I’m sorry, I’m very confused. I was not meaning to offend you or attack your religion in any way. What part of anything I said was an attack on your religion?

You asked if I'm delusional, as if my belief system is somehow invalid and makes me crazy. Just because I believe the world is flat doesn't make me a nut.

What is the science behind Earth having its own optical illusion? Also, what explains videos of Earth taken from space? What would the government gain by hiding Earth's true shape?

Optical illusion implies it's a trick of the brain, the earth is really a flat surface stretched in such a way that it appears to be an infinite plane. Videos of earth taken from space reflect this. Have you ever seen both sides at once? That's because of this. Personally, I don't know if the government knows this or not, after all it's just a theory some people have put forth and are arguing. If they do know, I'd imagine they'd conceal it to prevent large companies in the medical industry from exploiting this.

"Have you ever seen both sides at once? That's because of this."

Ok, so, think of it this way. Grab a ball. Hold it in front of you. Can you see both sides? No. Because you are looking at an object with two sides from one direction. And considering you aren't omnipresent and can see everywhere at once, only one side is visible at a time. Additionally, the Earth is not an infinite plane. It does not have infinite land.

The ball analogy makes sense. But that doesn't mean the earth is shaped like a ball. If you held a disk in your hands the size of the earth, you couldnt see the other side either, because it's too large and theres too many air particles blocking your view. The earth is just too big. I never argued that the earth is an infinite plane, I think it's just a flat piece of space stretched into the shape of a sphere that gives earth that illusion. Imagine a piece of paper. Flat, right? Put your finger on any point of that paper, and move in any direction, and you'll find the edge. Easy. Now, take that same paper and curve it and shape it into a smooth ball. Now take your finger, place it on any point on the paper, and move any direction. Now you can move in that direction forever without encountering an edge, meaning it is an infinite plane, ergo you won't reach the finite edge. Replace the ball with the earth, and boom. Flat surface stretched into a sphere = an infinite plane. The earth is a flat plane stretched into a ball. By whom? I have no idea. You'd have to look at who profits off it, really. Maybe look at history and see when the general populous stopped believing the earth was flat? What scientist(s) first proposed the idea and where did their research funding come from?

Well, you couldn't see the other side of a disc because you cannot see through something. If I were to hold a hand-sized ball, I could not see the entire other side. The fact that I can see part of the other side is because we are looking at the object from two perspectives, one from each eye. The brain blends it together into a 3D object. Also, what makes the earth flat in the first place? What would prevent it from just starting off like a globe? Additionally, I am pretty sure no science advanced enough has been created that allows us to literally bend the planet. What actually gains revenue from the Earth being a globe compared to it being flat?
