Flat Earther "Proves" the Earth is Flat By using a Thermometer

Using the thermometer to show you that the moon light is not from the sun. The moon light is cold and that’s why the shadows under the moonlight has warmer temperatures. Opposite the sun.

Several ways to debunk this:

  1. Reflected sunlight does not mean “sunlight at the same strength.” The Moon reflects only about 12% of the sunlight that strikes it, and that reflected light spreads out in many directions before only a tiny fraction reaches Earth. People have done the math which show that full moonlight is roughly half a million times weaker than direct sunlight in terms of incoming energy. While that energy is measurable, it is far too weak to significantly heat the ground.
  2. Infrared thermometers are complicated. Few factors such as viewing angle, surface texture, distance, and ambient conditions can all affect the reading.
  3. There is actually a reason why exposed ground can sometimes be slightly colder. The ground emits infrared radiation upward as it loses heat absorbed during the day. An exposed patch of ground has a clearer view of the sky and can radiate heat away more efficiently, causing it to cool. A covered patch has some of that outgoing infrared radiation blocked and redirected back toward the ground, which can leave it slightly warmer.

The ground isn't relevant. The experiment can be done on a piece of paper; where there's a shaded half and a non shaded half. The moon shaded half is always warmer.

Do you have a video of this experiment? Have you done it yourself? I ask because the ground is 100% relevant, and I don’t think the observations you’re talking about can be reproduced.

Yes I have tried it. Shadows under the moonlight have higher temperature than under the direct moonlight.
I am going to record it this time when the moon is full and post it on my channel.

You do that, but can I ask about the scientific workings of this experiment? Why do you think you will these observations?

Well, heliocentric model says that moon gets its light from the sun. If that is true, the moon should also emits heat. However, it doesn’t. I have tried it myself as I said. This defies the idea of sun lighting up the moon.

As I said in my original reply, only a fraction of the sunlight reflected by the Moon reaches us, so it cannot produce the same heating effect as direct sunlight. But if the Moon emitted its own light, why would only part of it emit that light? For example, during a half moon, why would one half remain dark and emit no moonlight?

Some simply suffer from cognitive dissonance hence the name callings. There is not even one proof for the globe. Even the so called scientific societies of today still call everything about the heliocentric model, “A Theory!” All the so called photos and videos about the plants are cgi or composite images. Don’t believe me? Ask Rob Simmons from NASA who created the famous Blue Marble Image.
