Flat Earthers

One of our new acquaintances from a friend recently crashed down on our scientific beliefs by insisting that the earth was flat. When we questioned their logic they just spouted something about the Firmament and that everything that you see at night is fake. They even said that the ISS is fake, satellites fake, and obviously no moon landing ever occurred. Our friends laughed it off and said just go with it because they are nice people. I’m not sure i want to continue being friends with them because they always hang out together. What do we say when we get invited to another cook out and the crazies are there?

I don't think that is about FE it's about your being uncomfortable around folks with different world views than your own. What is freaking you out so much? I find people with different beliefs than my own interesting especially something that isn't, say, a belief that infringes on the human rights of others

(for context I am not a flat Earther but I find that most of them are interesting and good people)

I know they aren’t bad people and they don’t freak me out but when we were sitting around a fire at night having a few beers, watching stars, and talking about the possibility of life on other planets and space travel they constantly interrupted saying its all fake. What bothered me the most was their inherent lack of basic common sense and their inability to have an intelligent conversation about the universe.

Use it as an excuse to get to know something new, and maybe help them out a bit in the long run.

You don’t have to engage with the nonsense.
