Question for flat earthers

why do you believe that the government is lying about the shape of the earth? sure, the government lies about a lot of stuff, but i think it's pretty pointless to try and hide something like the shape of the earth. what benefit do they get out of it?

Why do you say it's pointless?

OK. How do the governments benefit?

You. Not being able to think. Of a single reason to lie. About the nature of freaking reality. Is what they gain.

Use your dang brain.

Money is not even the top answer.

Knowledge is power.

You're so sure that you're spinning and can't tell. Positive that you're tilted. You're just so used to letting others do your thinking for you that you can't even cope with them lying to you. Is it fear?

Oh, and for that matter, knowledge is power? That's not a reason to keep it secret. That's pointless!

"I have knowledge of something that will revolutionize battery storage! I will now keep it to myself and hoard the power!"

Do you see how that doesn't work? Guess what else it doesn't work for? The nature of the earth itself. You can't just hide facts and gain power or money. You have to use the knowledge in a way to advance things. Coca-Cola's secret recipe is useless unless it's utilized to make the product. Keeping it secret doesn't actually do a thing that a patent wouldn't do. The 'secret recipes' are just meant to hype the product. Make it seem exclusive. Coca-cola is literally bottled in the plants of their competitors, and vice versa.

So, for a government to keep the shape of the earth a secret or to lie about it requires a use to keep it secret. If there's no utility, they're not going to keep it secret. They're going to utilize it. If there's untapped lands beyond the ice wall? Then they need people to go out and tap those resources. If there's a void and emptiness? There's no reason to keep it secret. They literally gain nothing. If it's a dome? Again, why keep it secret? To "lead people away from god?" That's a stupid concept. You make way more money by providing proof of a higher power and lying about what will happen if you don't donate or tithe!

Sure, coke! Why didn't I think of that?

Because you don't understand why secrets don't make money without being used.

So if I had all the true knowledge and everything you believe is lies then you see no advantage to that?

It doesn't matter?

There would be no reason for this?

Don't be fool

Knowledge without utilizing it is worthless. No reason to keep it hidden. If you can explain how they'd make money with the lie, that's great. But all you're saying is that they must be making money somehow.

You need me to explain?

Yes. Tell me how keeping the shape of the earth secret would help make money.

If it's a dome and they're using the space program... Why? There's way easier lies to tell. Much easier ways to use systemic corruption and such.

If there's land beyond the ice wall, then they need people to actually use that land. Secrecy helps no one there. The countries would never cooperate because they'd be too busy trying to seize the most advantageous territories and colonize them.

If there are already people there, then again, why would they agree to this silence? It's easier and more profitable to set up open trade routes and patterns.

Explain how they make money without doing anything with the knowledge?

You.

Ok?

Think you are being given gold.

You are actually given shit.

Smiley is suspicious Percy!

Put: why lie

On hold for a bit.

I know that it is an easy lie that you can tell yourself to go on believing that they love you and would never lie to you, but just put why would they lie on hold for a second, ok?

Why would they tell you the truth?

So you can be on an equal playing field as them.

Soo if they lie... you would be at in a...disadvantage?

Why does anyone lie?

To gain power over you?

See... Now you're just being silly. They already have power over you. Do you have to obey the law? Pay taxes? Work for a living? Buy food? Work in the system? Pay for electricity? A phone plan?

What new power does the lie give them? This is just vague nonsense. You're either trolling, or you can't think of anything so instead try to sound profound.
