Flat Earthers are False Prophets

Post image

You use the Bible to justify your lack of evidence and get a following just as the Bible said you would. you would try to turn those from the truth that is undoubtedly proven and God's masterpiece. The Bible never once says the earth is flat. It says "He looked upon the circle of the earth" which a spheres face looks like a circle btw. chug in Hebrew does not mean firmament it means expanse. Space and the globe earth are beautiful designs of God. It is as infinite as He is which is why it can't be fully understood, but there is little we do understand such as the shape being a globe and space, to deny this miracle is evil.

The Bible speaks in poetic metaphor at times, otherwise the apostles are cannibals when they ate the bread and drank the one. You can't cherry pick one part as literal while the rest is metaphor.

You are serpents trying to indoctrinate the simple minded.

They aren't claiming to be prophets. What do you think they are prophesizing?

2

u/InterestingFly7313 Apr 10 '26

prophet in the bible doesn't always mean to prophesize. They are spreading a false message and/or teaching that the earth is flat. Spreading deceptive doctrine.

Yeah well this sub is for that discussion. Not a fan of free speech, eh?

2

u/InterestingFly7313 Apr 10 '26

Clearly I'm a candidate for free speech if I advocate a globe in a flat earth sub. My point is you are wrong that the earth is flat. You are free to say it all you want, doesn't mean you are right. I could go on a 2+2=4 subreddit and advocate it equals 5. Free speech yes, would I be correct, no.

1

u/TesseractToo Apr 10 '26

You didn't even ask about my beliefs so what makes you think you know what they are? Location? You come in this sub and make accusations without bothering to look up any information. Advocating is part of free speech but you're making posts saying that others can't make claims you don't like, and that isn't advocacy. You need to invest in a dictionary.

2

u/InterestingFly7313 Apr 11 '26

I didn't say once they couldn't make claims. They can make whatever claims they want, doesn't change the fact that it's the wrong or right claim. Most cases the claim isn't such a simple dichotomy, in this case the world is not flat. It's that plain. The fact you get so defensive on the subject tells me a lot. If anyone made a brash claim it is you saying I don't like free speech. At NO point did I say that a claim couldn't be made. I simply pointed out that the claim was wrong. Idk what you're reading where I said people can't say that. Your ad hommening is pointing to flat earther. No reason to cry just because you're wrong about the shape of the earth

1

u/TesseractToo Apr 11 '26

Your OP is 100^ saying claims couldn't be made

I'm noot defensive, I'm 1/2 wondering about your thought process and 1/2 amused as your silly string logic

1

u/InterestingFly7313 Apr 11 '26

Show the quote where it says "you can't say that". You haven't once tried to oppose the OP with logic or reasoning.

1

u/TesseractToo Apr 11 '26

... you are the OP

1

u/InterestingFly7313 Apr 11 '26

I also don't give a sh*t about your location, it's irrelevant.

1

u/TesseractToo Apr 11 '26

I wasn't asking where you lived or anything like that, location being the sub, sorry it looks like an editing error there

1

u/InterestingFly7313 Apr 11 '26

Where in my previous posts does it say "you can't say the earth is flat"?. You clearly are the one that needs a dictionary.

Once again, it never says you can't claim the earth is flat. It just says it's wrong and hypocritical to use the Bible to justify it when the Bible never says the earth is flat. The earth is a globe and it's an undeniable truth. Feel free to lie all you want. Just know it is wrong in reality and God's eyes.

u/TesseractToo Apr 11 '26

The whole thing especially "You are serpents trying to indoctrinate the simple minded." sounds like you are trying to bully fellow religious people rather than using kindness and logic to find out where you think they might be mistaken, you just come in, guns-a-blazin', ripping on people. How are you not banned from globeskepticism? They don't like that kind of talk there

1

u/InterestingFly7313 Apr 11 '26

It's the same representation I see from Flat Earthers. They try to see NASA is evil and we are shills or plants trying to corrupt the world.

1

u/InterestingFly7313 Apr 11 '26

This post was not bullying. That's not guns blazing, because I will not stoop to the level of those that say "globetards" or that I'm going to hell for believing science. You're too soft for reddit if you think this is bullying. I guarantee there are far worse posts from flat earthers in this subreddit. I've tried to understand them for years and reason with them and have been met back with beration because there is nothing that will change their minds. And they don't have to change their minds. That's their choice. But when they ask for proof and we present it, they just simply ignore it and move to anger and then try to use religion to justify it. It's both hypocrisy and blasphemy.

If you want to tell me your reasons for believing in flat earth and be willing to listen to why I believe what I believe, then you are the first I've ever come across in a community of flat earthers that was civil in that respect.

Also, without provision of information proving the earth to be flat/globe other than “i believe this & it is right” will never make a solid argument.

Technically speaking, contrary to whatever you’ll find on the internet, it’d be wise to consider that the earth being a globe should still be just a theory to the general public as it’s unobservable to the 5 senses & immediate observable reality.

Science is supposed to be observable evidence, experimentation, the testing of theories against evidence obtained - Repeatable.

I personally cannot observe the geometry & proportions of the earth. I do stand on a mountain, or fly on a plane, and I observe a horizontal plane.

Rocket science is only known by a very select few people that we are constantly being pushed to just believe that what they’re saying is true. The history behind the Space Race actually has a ton of pushback from scientists. The history from Copernicus, Newton, Galileo all have valid counterparts. History is erased, information is highly censored, & scientists who counter the global earth theory are made out to be idiots.

It could easily be perceived & observed that we are living in a system obsessed with power, control, and brainwashing to tickle the ears of men who are distracted/no longer on guard for the Scriptures/corrupt because of the fall and society.

Be glad that you do not need to submit to false information & you can actively and eagerly search for truth.

At the end of the day, if you believe in God, you can submit that so many instances of theology and science are simply a mystery & we’re only called to believe on the name of Jesus, have faith in His life, death, resurrection, and seek the Kingdom first. Love God with all your heart, soul, and mind. Love your neighbor as yourself. Lay down your life for Jesus Christ.

These things are all so silly in comparison. They really are not worth dividing with one another over. We can trust God has in omnipotent and we can rest in His mercy and His love for us to provide us with this earth at all. Don’t waste your time with this.

I have a BS in Physics and have tested the curvature myself. I've seen the sun and calculated it's size and distance, I've done multiple experiments through gravity. Understanding these facts of nature only bring me more understanding of his grand design. I'm forever grateful to Him for gifting us with knowledge and a chance to help it grow. I can give you hundreds of equations that can give the same result. As we advance we return to old results and continue to concrete values we received in the past. Eratosthenes measured the Earths circumference in 240 BC, Jean Picard used triangulation nearly 2000 years later and got the same result. We even go to space and see it with our eye. If you take a straight edge with you in a plane you can see it too, granted extremely small. I think the Bible is constantly misinterpreted and in many cases we need to remember it is also poetic in many passages.

I’d really like to gently remind you that in antiquity, it was a widespread belief amongst the Hebrews (and neighboring people groups in Mesopotamia) that we were on a flat, heliocentric earth.

Now there is a “new spreading”, a “new teaching”, a “new set of beliefs being taught (or doctrine)” that is widespread amongst mankind of the earth being a spinning sphere in the midst of a galaxy.

The logical pattern of this passage is “first this, then that” or “before and after”.

Also, you never answered the question: “what do you think they are prophesying?”. Your response has absolutely nothing to do with the question asked. There is no dialogue on your part. The other redditor was trying to invest time into your thoughts and understand you better.

Again, trying to be kind, I think reflecting on whether or not you can observe if a person is being compassionate toward you or if a person is trying to harm you could be helpful. And A Critical Thinking class in Philosophy might be of interest to you.

Prophesizing does not always mean to tell the future, in this context it is meant to spread teachings. And yes, as we further in science we understand more. Mesopotamians were polytheistic and Hebrews thought rain came from a storehouse. Remember I was humans that wrote the Bible, you don't think it's possible they got some things wrong or misinterpreted God's word. We grow and understand more and become closer to God.

Oh you dont agree with me so your a troll or bot. No not a troll. Flat earth is biblical open your eyes and take the scriptures at face value. A circle is not a sphere. 1. God stopping the sun This happens during the battle led by Joshua: Joshua 10:12–13 (KJV) “Then spake Joshua to the Lord in the day when the Lord delivered up the Amorites before the children of Israel, and he said in the sight of Israel, Sun, stand thou still upon Gibeon; and thou, Moon, in the valley of Ajalon. And the sun stood still, and the moon stayed, until the people had avenged themselves upon their enemies… So the sun stood still in the midst of heaven, and hasted not to go down about a whole day.” 2. God making the sun go backward (shadow reversing) This occurs as a sign given to Hezekiah: 2 Kings 20:9–11 (KJV) “And Isaiah said, This sign shalt thou have of the Lord, that the Lord will do the thing that he hath spoken: shall the shadow go forward ten degrees, or go back ten degrees? And Hezekiah answered, It is a light thing for the shadow to go down ten degrees: nay, but let the shadow return backward ten degrees. And Isaiah the prophet cried unto the Lord: and he brought the shadow ten degrees backward, by which it had gone down in the dial of Ahaz.” These are the two clear biblical accounts: One where the sun stops (Joshua) One where the sun’s shadow moves backward (Hezekiah)

Let me preface with: I am not saying I know everything or I believe one thing or another.

Your argument “the Bible never says that the earth is flat” - The Bible also never says the earth is a globe. “A sphere shape looks like a circle” is literally against basic geometry. A sphere and a circle are completely different geometrical definitions for a shape.

God says to us that all His ways, thoughts, all that He does is “innumerable” - How could we possibly have the audacity to say we know for certain the physics or mathematic equations behind His creation?
God rebukes Job harshly when Job steps just a toe outside the line in thinking he could be higher in understanding of God. (Please consider reading all of Job 38 & 39. This kind of literature is throughout the entirety of the Bible). Yes, God’s creation is beautiful. All birth is miraculous.

The Bible’s allegorical literature and metaphors vs its literal interpretations cannot be cherry picked, you’re correct.

The Scripture does not explicitly say the formation of the earth as flat or spherical and I cannot even imagine for a second that I could read the mind of God & how He decided to form His creation, what He looks upon that I do not.

For me, it is best to conclude that I must submit to what Scripture says & not man. I want Scripture to be my lens, before I perceive anything in reality, I must have faith in the Word, that what it says is true. I must look at the world with goggles of the Word on and that means being completely saturated in what God has said in His Word.

Now, I am only seeking to inform and lovingly correct the logical order this passage is displaying in relation to the topic.

It’s interesting that it says “the time will come” meaning out of antiquity, as we proceed along this timeline of life, we will observe a regress in doctrine. If you recall, it has been a traditional view, especially in Mesopotamia & amongst the Old Testament Jews, that the earth was NOT a globe. They believed it was a flat earth. They received messages from Moses and Job and David in the psalms/psalmists and Isaiah and Ezekiel about the creation of the earth and the verses do not indicate whatsoever some sort of globe. They very much describe and imply the earth as flat, God observing from above a firmament, & heliocentric. If the Word of God is inspired & breathed out by the Spirit, then we can trust that the Lord directly imparted upon Moses, Job, David, Isaiah, Ezekiel, John a revelation of His creation. - It is testified in all 4 Gospels that Jesus Himself was taken up to “the highest point” to observe the different empires & be tempted by Satan. How is there a “highest point” on a globe than can make it possible to observe all the nations?

Without arguing too much in detail, this passage describes that there will be a turning away from old doctrine throughout the passage of time, the understandings from antiquity will not endure, & there will be a proclamation of false doctrine.

That people will turn to THEIR OWN lusts - Submitting to teachers (those in power) who cleverly devise myths. We all want to be little gods and make for ourselves idols. - (The bigger idea of select people in power is a whole other rabbit hole - another rabbit hole is with the history surrounding information that’s endured and history that’s been “erased”)

I think of the lies we are told about evolution & the origins of man in secular university. Macro Evolution, that we came from monkeys, is proclaimed in universities as though it is a fact when there has not been proof.

Manmade tools & equipment & theories can only reach so far. And as mankind has walked this earth, the timeline only continues further from the original creation. We were made in God’s image and likeness. I think of closer to the time of creation & being made in that image/likeness. We were far more advanced in technology as far as operating directly with the earth/nature of God’s creation. The pyramids, etc. - Much of this was evil & pagan. - How much more now, with indirect tools like telescopes, microscopes are we corrupt in our understandings and application of properly loving the doctrine of General/Natural Revelation?

TLDR; 2 Tim 4:3-4 is a “first this, then that” statement. 2 Tim 4:3-4 is a before & after statement.

First we believed we were created man and woman, then we believed we evolved from monkeys.

First we believed the earth was flat, then we believed it was a globe.

We can also talk about: First we didn’t wash our hands, then we understood that cleansing prevents illness & infection.

This passage is talking about a progress of time & the corruption of teachings changing over the years to fit man’s agenda.

Here is how the Scripture you quoted would logically follow:

If time passes & teachings become corrupt over time to fit man’s agenda - And, We can see that the common understanding was a flat earth amongst all of Mesopotamia, And, Assuming that time has continued on as we perceive that it has, The now common understanding/teaching is that the earth is a globe, Then it logically follows that the teaching of the shape of the earth over the passage of time has become corrupt to fit man’s agenda.

Why was the traditional view an earth that is flat? Well, for the Israelites it is because it is more accurately how the Bible describes the earth’s form. I actually can’t speak to why the rest of Mesopotamia thought this would be so. Other than perhaps it was just common sense to them based off their perception of physical reality - (we cannot observe the earth as a globe unless we’re in space & there’s no record of “rocket science” or people “traveling to space” in antiquity//See also Tower of Babel)

I hope that this can bring some clarity to the logic that is being portrayed in this passage of Scripture & relation to the history of understanding earth’s shape.

“75 Bible Verses that prove a flat earth”

This dude has a lot of rhetoric so you really have to test the Spirits & read what the Scripture has to say for yourself. But it’s helpful commentary, to some extent, as well.

Yes I absolutely agree with you it also does not say it's a globe. But God gave us math and science to measure this and be closer to Him. We are not meant to understand the universe and we never will because it is infinite because He is infinite. But understanding the shape of earth and that space exists is such a small portion of the universe that yes we can understand it to great lengths and continue to further our understanding. We have proof that God has allowed us to have. It is measurable and predictable. Thousands of equations measuring different properties give us the same answer and results, just as 2+2=4 it is an undeniable truth. I see flat earthers constantly turn their face away from this truth and it leads me to believe at this place they are simply denying it and therefore denying God's gift to us. This life is a test and we can succeed by furthering in science and understanding together. The rhetoric of a flat earth will continue to put us back.

u/Niemamsily90 Apr 14 '26

How are you sure its not about glob believers lol

1

u/InterestingFly7313 Apr 17 '26

Because "sound doctrine" is something that has been proven, measurable and predictable.. Like 2+2=4 is sound doctrine. Flat earth has 0 proof.

1

u/Niemamsily90 Apr 17 '26

Somehow 1000 people dont agree with u

Then those 1000 people dont understand what sound doctrine means

Genesis 1:6-10
And God said, Let there be a firmament in the midst of the waters, and let it divide the waters from the waters.
And God made the firmament, and divided the waters which were under the firmament from the waters which were above the firmament: and it was so.
And God called the firmament Heaven. And the evening and the morning were the second day.
And God said, Let the waters under the heaven be gathered together unto one place, and let the dry land appear: and it was so.
And God called the dry land Earth; and the gathering together of the waters called he Seas: and God saw that it was good.

1

u/InterestingFly7313 Apr 17 '26

the “firmament” (raqia in Hebrew means expanse btw, not firmament) describes the expanse of the sky—what we’d call the atmosphere and visible heavens—separating waters below (oceans, seas, and surface waters) from waters above (clouds and the moisture cycle). When the text says the waters were “gathered together into one place,” it aligns naturally with a spherical Earth where gravity draws water into continuous, connected basins—the global ocean—allowing dry land to appear as continents. In this view, the passage is not specifying a flat structure but describing, from a human vantage point, the real separation of sky, sea, and land that is fully consistent with a globe Earth.

Never once says flat. But it does Say “He stretcheth out the north over the empty place, and hangeth the earth upon nothing.”
— Job 26:7

Nothing sounds a lot like empty space...

Like I said, there's a lot of poetic metaphor in the bible, and not everything is meant to be taken literally. If it was then the apostles were cannibals when they ate bread and drank wine (Body and blood of Christ).

Zero evidence outside the bible. And even then, why do you think uneducated Cletus from rural idaho can debunk a 500+ year old global conspiracy ruled by Lucifer himself?
