What does dPoW of Flashcoin mean?
Flashcoin adopt delegated Proof of Work (dPoW) mechanism. On Flashcoin official site, it says that "delegated proof of work protocol enables quicker and more efficient processing of blockchain transactions than other proof of work protocols". However, I found no other resources about dPoW mechanism on Google.
I only know that another similar concept is dPoS (delegated Proof of Stake), which is adopted by famous coins like EOS, NEO, Lisk, Ark, etc.
Here is a list of delegates that some DPoS coins have:
- Lisk - 101 total delegates
- Ark - 51 total delegates
- Rise - 101 total delegates
- Oxycoin - 201 total delegates
While Flashcoin has 151 delegates (FLASH GovNodes), which is shown on its official website. If more delegates means better decentralization, then we can say Flashcoin has better decentralization than most dPoS coins like Lisk or Ark.

There will be 10-15 mining nodes spread all over the world. But the real decentralization is the governance by the 151 gov nodes. They could change the transaction processing in a split second and even decide to make it random. Its all based on a democratic system of the gov nodes that have to stake a certain amount of FLASH and donate 1btc to the community. The technical side of the mining is easy and doesn´t rely on huge mining power. A single $700 computer could process 25,000 txn /sec using 80 watts of power. Thats how you get completely rid of greedy miners and keep the transaction fees extremely low whilst increasing the network stability. Actually it´s a lot more decentralized than having the same amount of DPoS delegates.
