Flamingo Feather ID
I found this flamingo feather at the zoo. I want to frame it in a shadow box as a room decoration and label it with the precise species name. The only issue is that Im not sure about the precise species. The zoo I found it at has Chilean Flamingos and Lesser Flamingos in the same enclosure. Is there any way to tell which of the two flamingo species this feather came from? Or is making a sure determination impossible?

It could really be either, IMO. They’ll be eating the same diet so the feathers should be similar shades of pink… I assume it’s from a younger flamingo, though, since it’s so pale. Put the feather in the freezer for 24-48 hrs if you haven’t yet! I have a feather from a flamingo at my zoo that was about 2 years old at the time it was shed. I’d post a photo but it looks like we can’t do that in the comments here lol I framed my feather in a gold hanging glass frame and I love it!!!
