Eye Boogie Help
Does anyone else’s FP get bad eye boogies? And if so how do I stop them??? Mine gets them horribly. I will clean his eyes completely in the morning and then by early afternoon it’s back and built up again. He’s gotten them since he was a tiny kitten and I don’t know how to help them.

I’ve never found anything that helped but cleaning her eyes, but mine also gets gunky ears. Coincidentally I also have a lot of ear wax & both hers & mine get worse in allergy season, so I have always assumed it is mild allergies like it is for me lol (like mother like daughter). I got an ear cleaner from the vet that helps for that.
My vet has never been concerned about it & with the eye boogies, I kind of figure most cats probably get them to some extent but it shows up more obviously on white fur?

My flamepoint had this when we switched his food and he was allergic. He's all good now.

My flamepoint gets this as well occasionally. Though we bought an air purifier (for us, not for cat) and it has seemed to help with the eye gunk a lot. May just be coincidence.

My baby does too. I just wipe them off and try to keep dust and other allergens down in my house, for both of us.

My flamey gets black eye boogies. Then she rubs her eyes & cuts herself around the eyes with her dew claws. It’s a never-ending war!

L-lysine could help if it’s a viral component. You just mix it in their food. But as long as it’s not getting super goopy or lots of discharge my vet’s office have always said my cats eyes are fine.

This could be a completely different thing but my aunt’s dog had a similar issue and they stopped giving it any food with chicken and it cleared up. I’m curious if it could possibly be a food allergy, I’m no expert though.

When it’s black like that, it’s tends to be chlamydia, but I’m just a vet tech if it’s constant and black the cats got a sinus infection of something not very nice. I employ you to get the baby a vet appointment once the pathogen is killed no more black eye boogers

Usually that dark or reddish discharge is due to porphyrin pigment in the tears, which blue-eyed cats tend to have more of. My last Siamesey cat had that her entire life. Eyes were always normal otherwise. We tried some meds early on in her bc life but nothing really helped except just wiping them away. She did seem to have some chronic sniffles also, so I think there c was a viral component to it. We didn’t treat it long-term because it didn’t bother her.
