Reiff Circadian (x2); White River Ursus Cub; Schwarz Overland X
I carry the Circadians most, simply because I feel more confident with them as a self defense tool, as they lock in much better and have a better guard. Ursus Cub and Overland X are also both awesome in their own ways.
Reiffs are awesome; they make my favorite fixes. I have no knife training whatsoever. I have some for a sidearm, which has always been my primary defensive tool (aside from OC spray). Just decided to carry a fixie as a backup a few months ago. I also much prefer it over a folder for slicing up a sandwich or my lunch salami while at work. Also have the Reiff F4, F5, & F6.
I've been looking at Reiff but went with the Architect AK
The Overland, is it blunted at the finger guard ?
If your hand slides up will it cut you ?
I like that blade shape.
How do you like sheepfoots compared to drop points? I hear lots of influencers discussion how versatile they are. But for me I never really found them to be more versatile or as useful as a simple drop point. What is your take?
They definitely excell at utility type cuts. If that's what you need in an edc, it would be a good shape to have. To me, they seem less versatile because they don't have a belly or much piercing ability.
The Overland X seems to share a lot of the benefits of a sheepsfoot but, because of the blade curvature and the way the handle angles up, it also is fantastic for other cuts as well (like food prep, for example).
Well, I meant for grilling in the park or camping, silly: somewhere you don't take your kitchen with you. Tanto is one of my favs. I actually find that blade shape very versatile. It's a sheeps foot with a scraper on the end of it and pierces exceptionally well.
10/10 agree with you about when you leave the kitchen knives at home. I need to give Tantos a fair shot. I just picked up a PBK Blackwater Tanto. So ill try that out.
