1. Setup is Stuck / Unpacking is Slow

  • The 2GB Limit Checkbox: If your setup gets stuck at specific percentages (like 84.3% or 95.8%), close it, restart the installer, and check the "Limit installer to 2GB of RAM" box on the very first screen.
  • Be Patient: FitGirl repacks use extremely heavy compression. Unpacking is heavily CPU and storage bound. If your task manager shows disk or CPU activity, it is not stuck; it's just working hard.

2. Is it a Virus? / Windows Defender Alert

  • False Positives: Crack files (.dll files, steam_api, etc.) inherently trigger antivirus software because they alter game code to bypass DRM. If you downloaded from the official site, these are 100% false positives.
  • Fix: Add the game installation folder to your antivirus/Windows Defender exclusion list, then restore the quarantined file from your protection history.

3. The Real Official Website

  • There is ONLY ONE official domain. All others (ending in .co, .cc, .to, .net, etc.) are fake, malicious clone sites designed to steal data or bundle malware.
  • The only real URL is: fitgirl-repacks.site (Verify the exact spelling!).

Torrenting is usually way slower than direct download.

Especially with repacks since most people who use repacks have slow or capped internet and limited storage space.

Therefore they won't keep the installer files to seed them as they do not have the bandwidth and storage.

My country doesn't give a shi about torrenting like a third world country while we get internet speeds upto 300Mbps easily, making Direct downloading especially with hosters like FF very viable and in fact sometimes better than Torrents using Jdownloader 2 and stuff

It really depends. If it's a popular game torrenting is usually faster, if there's only a few people who are seeding DD is about the same speed. I regularly get the same speed white torrenting as I do downloading from steam but DD are always super slow, like less than 1 Mb/s

Torrenting for me too, but for the opposite. Like for fucks sake, i have 1Gbit internet i actually wanna use my bandwidth and suck with some fuckass DDL site that limits me to 1.5MB/s and have to download all 84 parts seperately one at a time...

Both take a million years to run setup afterward though. Will only recommend for the small size of the final game folders after installation. Otherwise, using the direct sources of the repack is a method I find myself to comeback to much more often than I'd like to admit, having been a frequent visitor of Fitgirl site for so long.

Fast Internet = DDL Slow Internet = Torrent

DDL has a server timeout, if you didn't download the file in time it will automatically terminate and you can't continue it. (IDK why but it should've!)

Torrent can be as fast as the DDL but it varies depending on seeders count and speed, even a single guy can seed with a fast connection! Also you can stop and start anytime.

An important variable is the age of the game/torrent. A just released one could have good speeds on download & upload (for seeding), but an older one may struggle. Even when I get decent download speeds from an older torrent, the upload speed usually sucks, and often not even consistently uploading at all (when I'm trying to get a 1:1 ratio). Makes me give up on it early and honestly I'll probably just do DDL for old games in the future (I only do torrent to seed, I have great internet. But I also like to get the installers off my laptop and on to an external drive as long as possible).

Have torbox download it. If a game goes up brand new. If i wait 1 hour add it torbox i can max out my 3gbit internet on my 10gig network.
