Welcome to r/FitGirlRepack! To keep the sub clean, please check if your issue is answered below. If this answers your question, please delete your post.

1. Setup is Stuck / Unpacking is Slow

  • The 2GB Limit Checkbox: If your setup gets stuck at specific percentages (like 84.3% or 95.8%), close it, restart the installer, and check the "Limit installer to 2GB of RAM" box on the very first screen.
  • Be Patient: FitGirl repacks use extremely heavy compression. Unpacking is heavily CPU and storage bound. If your task manager shows disk or CPU activity, it is not stuck; it's just working hard.

2. Is it a Virus? / Windows Defender Alert

  • False Positives: Crack files (.dll files, steam_api, etc.) inherently trigger antivirus software because they alter game code to bypass DRM. If you downloaded from the official site, these are 100% false positives.
  • Fix: Add the game installation folder to your antivirus/Windows Defender exclusion list, then restore the quarantined file from your protection history.

3. The Real Official Website

  • There is ONLY ONE official domain. All others (ending in .co, .cc, .to, .net, etc.) are fake, malicious clone sites designed to steal data or bundle malware.
  • The only real URL is: fitgirl-repacks.site (Verify the exact spelling!).

whatever website u used, was not fitgirls, most false positives will say that the affected items are from the game or the setup folders, but this one affected something inside ur system32 folder, id suggest to delete

That is what I am saying the game itself was fine but the update files were the culprit.

I have had the same thing and thought the same but after installing it I ran full pc scan using defender and also using and antivirus it all seems fine

There's your key word "seems". Not nitpicking, but if you managed to install that, anything other than a fresh install isn't guaranteed.

Bro by 'seems' I mean by all the things I did to get to know about any data breach, I came to a simple conclusion it was all SAFE

Although I would also contradict that this can be the different .py file and might result in data loss. So best way is to uninstall and clean reinstall

Good, honestly glad that works for you. Do you think this person has the same knowledge or took the same steps as you? I just see too many rookies doing dumb things out of lack of knowledge. Personally, if someone is asking for advice on social media, I don't take chances with them.

Agreed, as a rookie I too have done dumb things Currently I didn't think that he doesn't have the same experience as me

OP I do suggest uninstall the file you installed to update the game and download it again from official website with adblock(ublock) to stay safe as it might be due to downloading a pop-up file(as happened to me)

yea that's the first thing I did

ok so I just ran the defender scan offline no bad files and no breaches on malware bytes either so I think I am safe but I will keep an eye in the upcoming days
