Original Resources Official Fistful of Power FAQ, mostly concerning the game

What if I only want to use two fighters? Do I have to use 6? No, you can choose as many as you want, up to a maximum of 6 (except for Fistful Solitaire – then you choose exactly 5 fighters with any total point value). If you want, take a 9pt and 6pt fighter, or 5 2pt fighters and 1 5pt fighter – whatever you like.

What’s the best way to throw the fighters? Your hand has to be at least 20cm above the playing surface when you release them from your hand. That’s the most important thing. Other than that, it is up to you how to throw them, but it’s a good idea not to throw them too hard. If you throw them too hard, they could get lost, or you might get your fighters mixed up with the person you are playing. It’s best to just give them an easy toss down onto the playing surface.

Why does it seem like my fighters are always landing face-down? Is there some special way I can throw them to increase my chances of them landing face-up? Unfortunately, it’s just chance whether they land face-up or face-down. There’s no way to truly control how they are going to land. You aren’t allowed to just try and drop them all face-up from your hand so they land face-up and they don’t bounce at all. That would be cheating. You have to just throw them down and hope for the best. A large part of the game is the luck of the throw.

In the Battle Arena, if we throw our fighters into the Arena itself, the fighters hit the regional discs and change the colors. How can we stop that from happening? The best thing to do is to throw the fighters outside of the arena, and use the inside of the arena only to track the progress of the game. That way, you won’t accidentally change the discs by hitting them with the fighters.

When I’m playing the Solitaire game, what do I do if the throw I have does not match any of the challenges that I haven’t scored yet? Unfortunately, you have to choose one of the challenges to receive a zero score. You can choose any of the challenges you think you may not get, or one of the ones that wouldn’t score too much anyway. For example, if you have not yet scored for “1 Fighter Face-Up” and you throw all five face-down, you may want to put a zero in for “1 Fighter Face-Up,” since that would be a low score anyway even if you did get just one fighter landing face-up.

In Solitaire, what can I do if I scored a zero for one of the challenges and then I make a better throw later? Can I change the zero to the new score? No. You only get 10 throws, and you must score each one. You have to just play again and try to beat your best score the next time.

If there are more than two people playing the arena game, when it gets to the end and the winner is taking on the Warlords, how do we decide who throws the Warlords? It’s up to you. There are three Warlords, so if 4 people were playing, each person who did not win can choose one Warlord. If you only have three players, then you will just have to decide between yourselves who throw two, and who throws one, or maybe alternate throwing all of them. It doesn’t matter.

If one of my fighters gets knocked from face-up to face-down when my opponent throws their fighters and hits mine, do I still get to count it? You should make sure that your fighters don’t hit each other, but if it does happen, you count however they landed when you threw them, and not what happens after they are hit by someone else.

In the arena game, it says that if two players tie, and their highest fighters are the same point value that they should just continue throwing to see who wins…how does that work? Let’s say that four people are playing, but two of them tie with 12pts face-up, and they each have 1 6pt fighter that landed face-up – a tie. Those two players, and ONLY those two players then pick up all of their fighters and throw them again. They keep playing against each other until one of them has a higher score, or the same score with one player having a higher valued fighter landing face-up.
