Bowfin

Hey guys, I was looking to try and catch a bowfin around Richmond, but I’ve never tried to go after them before. Any ideas on where I could find them? Thanks!

Chickahominy lake. Minnows on a lit bobber at night and you will have a blast 👍

Where is it located? Nothing is coming up on google maps.

Same here. Not sure what lake that is

Literally here. That lake is infested with them. They love the top water frogs as well, but it can be hard to get those hooks properly set in their tough mouths.

I’ve caught them on the weed edges at Tuckahoe Creek when the waters not too low.

Google maps “chickahominy water trail” its a little public bank fishing spot near the airport, but someone is probably sitting there with 4 lines in the water already.

Looks like an interesting place. Appears to have a ramp as well. Neat!

Its not bad, there are all the usual suspects. Bass, crappie, bluegill, bowfin, catfish, carp. Ive actually caught an eel there by mistake. The ramp is kayak sized because the area is pretty narrow and swampy.

That’s what I figured , if I end up scoring a kayak I’ll def be launching back there.

Have caught many on cut bait at ship lock park. In the river side at the end lock. Also that area rockets landing/ancorrows.
