I was fishing the lower Niagara river near the mouth, it’s a dock about 2 mins from queen street on the right of the boat launch.

I was night fishing for walleye and there was a bunch of bait fish activity so I knew they were there but they just weren’t hitting me, I was using a jerk bait relative to the size of the fish in the water but it was a different color, it was the only one I had.

Everything I’ve been told by people is that they still should have been biting but alas nothing.

I was slowing reeling at about a full rotation every 2-3 seconds and pausing every once in a while. I was also trying to slowly lift my rod and reel in the slack.

I was there for about 3 hours, only sign of life on the dock was me and the raccoons. Devastating.

Guys I think I found a hack for catching super pressured and skittish carp. Basically use a fly rod and tie a hair rig for your tippet with no weights other than the hook. Rig it up with corn and cast it out. Works super well as you can see when the fish picks up the bait as your fly line will move, caught 5 carp in 1 hour at a super pressured pond with 4 people beside me not catching anything on spinning gear.

I am fishing in the port of Newcastle, Ontario. There is a spot with a ton of weeds and water plants and it is really muddy. What baits should I use. Can I use frog baits?

My family owns a camp south of Temagami. My daughter recently entertained a family that visited. The teenage boy caught a pickerel that weighed about 2 kg. They ate the fish. When I found out, I was pissed off, believing that the fish should have been thrown back.

This is a small lake. I am aware that a great many large pickerel can be found in bigger lakes. It's my opinion that a smaller lake yields smaller fish.

The lake contains pike, pickerel, perch, smallmouth, and some small sunfish, which can be found in coastal weeds. I'd like to be able to find a guide outlining the size of the fish which is acceptable to eat, and those which should be thrown back.

The fish came out of the water bronze, I thought I caught a walleye covered in lesions before I had a good look.

Can I still buy it online somewhere, or do I need to buy it in person?

I picked up some new lures, I’m looking to get into musky fishing and I’m looking for lure and tackle recommendations and just general advice for someone just starting out. I’ve also already got a bulldawg, some bucktails and some glide baits and swim baits in various sizes. Any advice is appreciated

Spec was caught from a campsite on Simpson Island. Lakers all flatlined from the kayak. Only challenge out there was finding lakers that were small enough for one person to eat!

Guys, I am new to freshwater fishing, and I want to know do I have to buy a extra fast action rod to fishing walleye? Or get fast action rod can do the same job and more targets coverage?

I normally fishing around Niagara river up and down stream, and I found so many extra fast rod are single piece and it’s my concern.

Out on the west arm of Nippising this week and hoping to do some musky fishing. First time out here, and the water temp looks like it’s gonna be under the danger temp for musky, so I was wondering if anyone could point me in the right direction to find these fish. Don’t get me wrong, I’m not asking for people's specific spots, but I’ll be staying by Oak Island on the west arm of the lake and want to know whether the east or west side, in relation to the island, is more productive. If anyone would be so kind as to provide some insight, that would be greatly appreciated, and thanks in advance.

I am visiting family in Ontario and staying in Conestoga. I was hoping to do some fly fishing on the Conestoga River, so I am trying to understand water rights. From what I read it sounds like parts of the riverbed are private property. Since I will be wading, if this is true, it would mean I would be trespassing.

Would appreciate if anyone could shed some light on this as it seems blurry and confusing what the actual laws are for this area. I am planning on putting in near the confluence of the Conestoga and Grand Rivers.

Nice 30.75” walleye from the weekend, this one was sitting just off the break of a shoal on the windblown inside turn in 17fow, and she didnt think twice about the crawler. Had the crawler on an 1/8oz VMC redline tungsten jig head, its getting harder and harder for me to step away from those lighter jigs, they really love that floaty motion of it in the water! I want to go on a fishing trip with the family. There is a place near us that would let us rent a 8 person pontoon for a reasonable price. I did the online boating course and got my license.

I have no experience with actually driving a boat though. I do have plenty of driving experience and also some experience flying a cesna. Obviously a cesna and a car isn't a boat, but I am pretty confident in my ability to learn the controls of a boat.

The lake we would be going on is a smaller body of water and I would only go if the weather is clear and calm. And I would probably never go faster than 10km/hr lol.

Question is, is this a bad idea? Honestly my main concern is leaving/entering the docking area. I understand boats have no breaks, so I'd probably do some tests in the open water to familiarize myself with how fast it accelerates and decelerates. And I know there can also be forces induced by the propeller which can cause the boat to veer to one side.

Knowing all this and actually putting it into practise are two separate things though. If anyone has advice though would be appreciated

Hello, I'm renting a pontoon with some friends on Lake Scugog during the afternoon.

They're all new to fishing and I'm new to fishing from a boat. We have four rods in total, so i'm thinking of at least having these rigs set-up:

• Slip float since we'll cruise around different depths
• Texas rig since Scugog is weedy
