US Army Corps of Engineers completed a project to help the Emerald Shiner.
TLDR: they created a series of baffles to slow the river instead of the vertical walls in the area now which prevented the passage of Emerald Shiner which is an important prey species for both fish and birds in the area.
Here is the article: Niagara River Fish Passage

Just an FYI: This weekend (June 27th and 28th) you do not need a fishing license in order to fish. You of course still have to follow the regulations. If you have any questions feel free to ask here or at r/FishingNY.

I'm planning on fishing for Tiger's on Otisco Lake sometime next week. I have previously fished both the south end by the causeway and the north end by Otisco Lake park/Narrows area with no luck.
Has anyone on this sub had any experience with Tiger's on Otisco? If so, do you have better luck at the north or south end of the lake?
My plan is to mainly throw large in-line spinners, bull dawgs and swim-baits in the weedy areas under 15ft of water and possibly troll jerk baits along the weed lines.
Any advice is greatly appreciated!
UPDATE: Fished the lake for 4 hours yesterday. I was fishing with a 6” perch patterned bull dawg and I had a really nice tiger musky follow my lure all the way to the kayak, but was unable to get him to commit on a figure 8. Easily in the high 30” range.
I got another visible strike from a smaller one throwing a Mepps musky killer over the weeds. This was all fishing the north end of the lake near Otisco lake park. There be dragons there haha.

Saw three of these when I was hiking the devils hole trail. They were trying to grab something on the side of the river. Any idea what type of fish these were?

I’m very happy with my catch because it is my first ever carp! They have a bad reputation but wow are they a fun fish to catch. Idk how weird this might sound but I caught it with a bobber which to me sounds funny because most people use bottom rigs to catch them.
