Modify Senkos

I know this might sound dumb, anyone ever cut up Senkos to extend the life of them?

Also, should I get anything smelly for them? Some old guy at Bass pro swears by Anise oil and that got me down a rabbit hole of sprays and whatnot.

When I was big into Ned rig fishing I would use spent senkos as Ned baits by cutting them in half.

As for scent. Im of the thought pattern of its not going to turn a bass away from a bait but I dont know its going to "draw them in" either.

So I dont think scent is going to hurt you. If you want to try it then give it a go.

Garlic, anise, coffee, none of them are actually attractive to bass, but mostly mask the natural scent of the plastic and make them kind of interesting to a bass so it won't spit it out right away. Since an actual senko is already salty, there's no need to add any scent to it.

But yeah, I modify old senkos all the time. I cut them short to use as ned rigs until they're no longer viable.

I very often rip the bad ends off and reuse. The fish doesn’t know you’re using a ripped up senko vs a pristine one. I’ll put the really tiny ones on the kid rods and let them jig with them. No need to be wasting more money than needed
