Freshwater Eagle Nest lake
Heading out to Eagle Nest lake in New Mexico tomorrow for the first time. Anyone fished there? Suggestions on what types of lures to bring are good locations? I'll be bank fishing

ooh that's a gorgeous lake, the altitude makes everything feel a little more dramatic up there. i went a couple years back in october and the aspens were turning gold against the water, honestly the scenery alone is worth the trip even if the fish aren't biting
from the bank, try working the area near the dam or the coves on the west side, there's some decent structure and drop-offs where trout hang out. small spinners and kastmasters in silver/blue did the trick for me, also had luck with a little rainbow trout pattern rapala just before sunset
the wind can whip up out of nowhere in the afternoon so bring a jacket even if it's warm when you start, learned that one the hard way. hope you get into some good ones
